Good show. She brought memories when the show The White Shadow brought the first IR kiss of a BM/WW on TV. I remember that episode. It was all good.
I posted first, son. BTW, Steve should have asked Gwynnie why she has not shown brothas any love in her movies??? The Kid Rasta
If you check the times of the first posting of the two threads, I think that you may find you're wrong...But, it's really not important.
Let me break it down for you, but it's pretty obvious. For someone who is so down with Afr-Am culture like Gwynnie, it should be obvious that she would do a least one IR romance flick. I mean she claims that Jay-Z and Bee are her and her hubby's best friends. She's always talkin' about Z and hip-hop. There are prolly more pics of Gwynnie and Jay-Z 2gether than her with her own hubby. Real talk. The Kid Rasta
You hit it on the head Kid! Ms.P did not shown any love for a brother in any of her flicks. Talk is Cheap.
she is an actress. she auditions for roles or gets hired for roles. she doesnt write the scripts. she cannot say I WANT A BLACK LOVE INTEREST. she can LOOK for interracial dramas or scripts but i dont think there are any or many out there. besides thats just acting anyway. she expresses her REAL love for brothas in real life with who she spends her free time with (Jay-Z) and her love of hip hop music. shes a cool chick. i wish her and chris martin the best, he seems like a cool guy and i enjoy coldplay's music, but i cant lie, a part of me wished a chick like her who is so down with hip hop and black men was with a black guy.:smt007
Playboy, part of wants her to get the role of the WW who is not only down with the brother but, intimate as well. Hanging and liking the culture is just a tourist doing dress up. Besides, in that interview she mentioned the IR kiss on her dad's show.
Ding ding ding, a perfect example is the fact that black people dominate the music charts, but black leads are rarely seen in actual movies. Well not major block busters anyway. Tons upon tons of people listen to what's considered "black music", in fact, the majority of hip hop listeners are indeed white people. But listening to us, and being "down with us" is two completely different stories.
I'm not sure exactly what all Stoute is getting at, (is he trying to be the black James Lipton?) but anyway.. to me, 'tanning' of america, i.e., being more comfortable with black/latin derived popular culture, largely means nothing apart from true cross-cultural empathy along with political/social policy change.. So the chick who loves her some Jay-Z/Kanye but still clutches her purse if a brother (suit wearing or otherwise) comes into her general area hasn't "learned" anything substantive.. Is there a "fill in your favorite rap artist" section on job applications now? I'm not sure how hip-hop has affected minority hiring at all.. heck, if you have an "urban" name, it may even count against you with reactionary bosses and human resources managers..
Gwynnie has nothing to prove, plenty of white people can and do love us without taking us to their beds. Have to give Chris Martin his dues though, she is a fine woman.
Hypestyle you just hit it. There is more than just being interested or being a novice on Black music. Whites must work twice as hard and yes, dating a few brothers helps. Action speaks louder than words and I hope one day Ms. Paltrow would have a role with a brother but,I won't hold my breath since she is not Julia Stylies.
she has nothing to prove. as long as she doesnt have a racist turrets moment like Dr. Laura then she will be good
