Esoterik, are you seeking advice on what to do regarding her and her family, or just after people to share their similar tales? If it’s the latter I don’t have any stories to tell. If it’s the former then it depends on what you want out of the relationship with Sabrina; is she long term GF/wife material or just a bit of fun? If you can see a future with her then I’d suggest sitting her down and having a chat about the issue, but if not, and you can put up with it, then hang out with her and have fun if it feels right for you. Maybe she needs to know you’re worth seriously upsetting her family for, so is biding her time, or maybe she’ll never be mature enough to stand up to them. What do you reckon?

Okay, first, DAYUM! Didn't expect so many replies. Awright, lemme give you guys some details. First of all, i'm 25. Sabrina is 20. She's still in college and lives at home. So i think that may be part of the reason she's still under mommy and daddy's thumb. Yo, when i say she's a sweet girl she really is, it's her fam i the problem. As for what we're doing right now? We just started seeing each other so i haven't made up my mind what i wanna do with her. It's just a crappy situation and i don't want this to happen if i eventually meet her father:

The IR thing is not acceptable to my parents either, however, they will have to get used to it or have a strained relationship with me. I will not skulk around or ask a man to. But then, I'm old enough to stand up to Mom & Dad! To their credit, I do believe if I meet someone with whom I am very happy and who treats me well, they would come around. I have the feeling they are more worried about what other people will think. I have accepted that I'm not going to change their thinking.

The young lady in this situation has to make a choice: will she bow to her family's wishes or stand up to them?

 

Her age and living situation makes a big difference. I wasn't permitted to date outside my race when I lived at home, and I obeyed my parents. This is a tough situation, but I wouldn't walk away until you have tried what you can to make it work.

Alright I've been in a similar situation and here is my opinion. Again this is just an OPINION.

Ok when you say just started seeing each other I'm assuming you mean a couple weeks. If she seems sweet and you really like her I wouldnt dump her right away. In any relationship you shouldnt be in a rush to get all serious anyway.

My advice would be to take your time and get to know her more. Be clear about how you feel (never good to keep stuff to yourself in a relationship) and see how she handles it.

She is very young and still has a lot to learn. In time you'll see her real character and can make a better determination about her long term prospects as a mate.

But for now you shouldnt be trying to get too serious anyway. In the beginning of any relationship you should have some guards up. If you really like her so far just enjoy the moment and take it slow.
