If you are upset or offended by this thread, please don't reply. I'm not making this thread just to piss people off, but to try to get a genuine discussion going.

I came across this e-mail link through my inbox.

I would like to know what is the root cause/motivation of these kinds of crimes happening. I read this article and have realized that we (partially) are to blame for the state of affairs that the African American community faces.

There has to be a stop to this kind of crap soon or America will always be a color-coded society (regardless of what year or time it is) while other countries fare better off with race relations.

Here are some quotations from commentators that I'm citing out to invoke some thinking between you all.

I *really* don't see what his race has to do with this.

I try to not see race either. But really, on a serious note, I'm feeling afraid and fearful about the state of things in America. It's as if we're all going to tank in the future and blacks/other minorities tank the hardest.

This character is a lifelong career criminal, for whom crime seems like his lock, stock and trade, and he would murder you or I just as easily if he broke into our homes and encountered us in the midst of his criminality.

There is no grand mystery or methodology here for such folks.

Its quite a stretch to relate his actions to the African American community.

Does a drunken redneck that abuses his wife and kids in suburbia or a trailer park speak for whites, does some of the most notorious serial murders like John Wayne Gacy, Bundy, Ridgeway, BTK (Dennis Rader) attest to whites.

Why do we as blacks always have to be labeled to the last T in these situations.

The poignant difference with this crime is that it was a black criminal and Caucasian victim, if they were both white or both black folks would have called it what it is, a brutal act committed by a sick bastard and that would have been the extent of it.

I mean women and the media were raving about "oh how handsome Ted Bundy is" even after they knew he had hacked to death college women. I mean really, sheesh.

While I comprehend why you asked the original question, I for one am not taking onus for some murdering piece of shit scumbag and his virulent actions because we have the same skin color. Hell no.

I could easily pull up a story like this that has a white perpetrator, heck saw a story where a white man in Wisconsin beat his mother to death with a hammer for cutting him off from his father's estate, you won't hear the "race obsessed" folks mentioning these events however because it doesn't suit their fervent agenda.

However once its the evil, scary, boogie monster, black mongrel perp then haha, lets talk, its always the case of see we told you about them savages.

All you can do is live your life and be the best man that you can be bro. These subject matters are rooted in a long and twisted history in this nation that would require a couple of lifetimes to interpret and make sense of.

Well said. Race just is not an issue here, regardless of what empty headed commenters at the original site might think. The only thing revealing about this is that there are racists in the world. Except we already knew that.

Exactly, which is why one can only live their life.

As I say, "There is ALWAYS going to be people in this world that don't like you"

That isn't my problem however but theirs to live and deal with.

WOW! I haven't seen or heard something more gruesome than this since that movie "Scream". People are losing their minds.
