    Sam Jackson wasn't the star of all those movies so IMO the stat is kind of bogus.

    I saw a discussion about this on TV last night.
    Its simply based on number of movies - he apparently makes more movies per year than others on the list so even if he grosses less per movie, he grosses more than the others on the list simply based on more movies made.

    Yeah but is it fair to list Sam Jackson's appearances in the 'Star Wars' movies as HIS movies?? You could have put any random in those flicks and the gross would have been the same.

    These kind of lists used to be compiled for strictly A-list actors, or the main actors in a motion picture who were signed first by a production studio to greenlight production.

    Simply appearing in a blockbuster in a secondary role is pushing it.
    Sam Jackson has had movies built mainly around his character and they haven't done poo poo at the theatre.

    But I do agree Mr. Jackson has appeared in a ton of movies and may be the hardest working man in Hollywood.

    He has been around Hollywood a long time, in the right place at the right time, never ever stepping on any toes or burning any bridges along the way and also showing great flexibility in all the roles he was given........

    So then what your are saying is they could get a great star and surround them with say the people from Jersey Shores show because the supporting roles don't matter. Sometimes if I see the name of someone I like even if they aren't the star I will make an effort to see the movie.

    We're talking about the Star Wars franchise. Sam Jackson didn't make that franchise or George Lucas famous. Just because Sam Jackson had a bit part as a jedi knight didn't make or break the film.

    ANY credible actor could have starred in that role and had no effect on the box office gross.

    The 'reality stars' on the Jersey Shore aren't credible actors.
