LOL, rather be a right winger than one of these productive members of society. That wouldnt be you in the box would it??
What they're doing is called "the human microphone." In most of these cities where the protests are being held, they can't get permits to set up loud speakers. They're repeating what the speaker is saying so that the entire crowd can hear.
occupy denver is being asked to move out of civic center park by 11pm tonight...world news tonight is reporting that occupy wall street is being asked to move out of a private park by 7am tomorrow morning i understand the movement...unfortunately they are unorganized in their message and are not results driven...with no demands or resolution if this is a call to arrest and prosecute bankers then lets be specific in the message
Yeah exactly. I do agree with Lippy though. They need a game plan because it would be a shame if all this beautiful energy went to waste. There's an opportunity to address som real issues and move towards social change.
Right wingers are productive members of society? Since when? As a whole the right is totally responsible for the polarization of the parties and why nothing can get done. They even rejected the jobs bill and again offering zero alternatives. Great job.
I support the occupy movement in that it's good to see the small axe take on the big tree. As many have said, there seems to be no goal to the occupy movement.... the problem(s) have been identified, but I worry that without guidance, by the time the effort dies out there will be little to no change. In my opinion, Occupy Wall Street should be Occupy Congress. It's the government giving the banks the bail out money, it's the branches of the government that are being influenced by the corporations. We need to tell our elected officials that this will not do. American companies that create jobs overseas should be penalized.... If we want to stick it to the corporations, that's much simpler... stop giving them your money.
I live in a fairly conservative area - small city - and just saw in today's paper that there will be an Occupy (my city) setting up camp just a few blocks from where I live. Might just have to mosey on over there tomorrow and check it out.
Which "list of demands" iis an accurate portrayal of what OWS wants accomplished by their demonsration? I'm seeing different lists being published (some with proposals that seem ridiculous, like a $20 minimum wage). Can someone post a link that makes their objective clear?
The objective is for the 1% to not be in control of almost 50% of the wealth. The roads to that goal vary by person and city, but the underlying reasons remain the same. As the movement grows steam, things are taking shape, but the point now is to be recognized.
For all we know, the guy in the box might want to be productive but is having a difficult time securing employment. I've lost a major client since starting law school, and it's put a serious dent in my finances, so I can testify that things are in fact tough out there. And no amount of bootstrap-pulling is going to make that go away.
