8 million dollars to sit in a chair and read a script, thats way too much. The actors kinda come off as greedy, they would still be makin 4 million dollars. But I think it'll get resolved in some kind of way.
Not at all, but 8 million dollars for 22 weeks of work. I've been a fan of the show since my youth. But its not as popular as it once was.
no doubt. it is easy to point fingers at the football players and the like. so "greed or fair share" is all over the place
Their talent made the show...not the producers.. I dont care if it was 10 weeks....THEY made the show and are WORTH it.
You must didnt watch ESPN during the NFL lockout or watching while the NBA is currently locked out. The owners get villafied off top. But back to this situation, its not like they gettin robbed. They would make 4 million dollars to read a script. Poor them right, I dont know how they gonna survive on 4 million dollars. When they made those deals with the voice talent, the show may have been at the peak of its popularity and was bringing in all kinds of revenue for the net-work. Kind of like Seth Mcfarlane is doing right now, but things change. The show cant survive set up as it is with the actors making that much, with the show only generating a certain amount.
The characters' voices are awesome and funny, but 8 million for 22 weeks (not even half a year) is really too much, when you compare it to other jobs, that are intellectually or physically a lot more demanding, and which pay a lot lower. 4 million is still decent money,a lot more than the average person makes. So hopefully they can come to an agreement
the owners should not have made that deal. I guess the contracts have expired and now they want them to take a pay cut. they say regardless next year is the last. so why the drama if next year is the last
Agreed. And for the record $8 million a year by simply going in front of the screen and record your voice IS too much. I understand maybe 1/4 of that pay, but not even people who are part of the Voice Actors Guild commands that much money, even after some royalties injected in it. The show has been on for a long time and that's great, but the audience is no longer there and if the show can't keep the numbers, they have to make some sacrifices. Besides, The Simpsons isn't the only primetime cartoon anymore. More people are gravitating to Seth's show and...it's just with the period of time. For me, if I had to reduce my pay to $4 million for 22 weeks, I wouldn't complain. Only people who like to exercise wasteful spending would complain about that reduced pay.
The cast had been there for more than 20 years. They should get a cut in the profits. If it was five years it would had been a different story.
If I make $8 million and I had to take a pay cut, I'd be ready. Besides, it's not like I'm contracted to work in one franchise. My voice is flexible to be part of all forms of animated outlets.
enuff said right. again I dont know if this was a situation where the contracts are expired and this is a new contract agreement or not but If they agreed to this and then want to rearrange things then the owners need to take it on the chin.
It's an insane amount of money I agree, but the show(and other related things) makes more than enough to pay them that much many times over. It's not the amount of money, it's the principle, someone making billions off your work tells you you have to take a 45% pay cut so someone else's pocket gets lined? Not cool. Doesn't mean I don't think it's obscene that they get paid that much in the first place, but if they leave now and are replaced, the show would be less popular, they do contribute and if that much money is being made they deserve a part of it.
