Speaking of great white artists that have borrowed from the best and made it their own... I am going to see G. Love & Special Sauce tomorrow night! So stoked!! You can't listen to this and tell me it's not good music - what genre would you put it in? (hoping to run into some sexy hipster BM there too - with great taste in music...) Yeah, kind of like the artsy types - being one myself. Guys with dreads, who wear cowboy shirts, motorcycle boots, that kind of thing... Out here as in LA? Anyway, so how would you categorize G Love?
I don't know. I don't think there's a specific name that I'm familiar with. It feels like NuBlues to me. Basically, Blues music with contemporary flair.
Of course you think G. Love sucks - you think Maroon 5 is "good music".. :smt043 and George Michael has no roots whatsoever in "black music"... "Freedom"??? anyone??? :smt043:smt043 Next.
All music is rooted in black music...if im not mistaken...the 1st people on earth were black... Therefore the worlds first singers were black...everybody else would learn this craft from them.
What's next - black breathing? black sleeping? You're reaching, buddy. I'll remind you of what you said a little while ago on this thread:
I'll take that - haven't heard that term thrown around too loosely - will definitely look into it. He caught my attention way back in the mid-90's and I haven't heard too many like him...definitely an original.
My ex bf is a big fan...he also lived in Chicago for awhile and introduced me to Liquid Soul (I was lucky enough to see them live). If you aren't familiar with them, check them out.
G. Love & Special Sauce concert was awesome btw - very hard-core blues and "nu-blues" - my ears are still ringing!!! No hipster black dudes unfortunately...:smt086 - I had to elbow wrestle with aging frat boys and their drunk girlfriends who were whoring after G Love, but I got front row center position to the action, and saw some of the best guitar playing of my life up close and personal...it was a great show...
Hmmm, I think I have an idea...but you need to a huge woofer and a surround sound system with a high treble and bass.
LOL I've already done that at a concert - sat on the speaker... it was fun Where are you going with this already you big tease lol.
