I agree sir....sounds like a classic case of men being men...besides if any one of those guys liked her...he probaly would be to scared to act on it anyways..for fear of a sexual harassment suit...which would more than likely ruin his career..

All of that education and hard work gets flushed down the drain...

It's important for American women to remember... that this is the kind of workplace scenario that they set up...via the litagation non-sense in our country.

There is never an excuse to make lewd and harassing comments at anyone- co-worker, romantic interest, person on the street, or stripper on a pole.

The only person you'd have to blame for litigation as a result of that is your own big dumb mouth...and probably your mother, for not cracking you across the mouth the first time she heard you disrespect a woman with disrespectful comments like that.

As for 'ruining his career'...what about HERS? If you're dumbass enough to say stupid shit and make her life hell, then I'm sorry, you deserve to lose your career... because...you...are...dumb.

And that's why men have no business hanging out with their female co-workers. After busting my ass at work I don't want to have to be concerned about someone else's feelings. Especially in a place that has the women dress for that very attention. If you can't handle being one of the guys its better that you don't hang with them.

I'm sure she did. It's not really like that when it comes to this sort of thing.

But, the benefit ...or, privilege, rather, of being a man includes feeling like it's a god-given right to say whatever you want to a woman and thinking she's not going to do anything (because, many times they don't). Saying 'no' not an invitation. Too many men consider a woman saying 'Stop' as a freakin' open invite..or a challenge. 'I'll wear her down! She'll see it my way!' or it comes down to saying 'You like your job? Want to keep it?'

Litigation doesn't just happen- it happens for a reason. You can't win a sexual harassment case without establishing that you lived in a hostile work environment. The burden of proof is on the prosecution (i.e. her team) to establish that she was working in a hostile work environment, so, the fact that she won speaks volumes about the level of harassment she experienced. It's more than saying 'stop'..

Um no. Harassing a female co-worker can lead to that. There's a huge difference between calling a woman a whore and a bitch at work and being nice to her.

Work isn't a pick up bar anyway.

I don't think a woman should have to say stop it. Geez.

So over your horse shit man bashing. All not even most men remotely feel that way. Most people are trying to protect their jobs so they don't want to do anything that results in an HR meeting.

That is a fantastic idea! If women would just start saying "stop i", all of such stuff would just stop! Why have not women thought of that before!!!!

Precisely.. the issue shouldnt have to come up.

I had a job when I was very young at a newspaper office. One night a week I stayed to lay out the weekly shopper. The only people in the building were the boss and I. I used to get obscene phone calls every flipping week from an inside line. I was 18 at the time and it freaked me out so much I left the job. It was scary.

Time passes, you learn to be tough. 20ish years later I had to take a sexual harassment lunchtime seminar at work, and I happened to land in the same group as many upper level executives, mostly male. The person leading the seminar told a story about a saleswoman on a business trip who had a drink with colleagues in the hotel bar. She got up to leave and her boss asked her if he could come to her room with her and help her shower. The leader asked us what she should do. I raised my hand and said "She should answer "Sure, sweetheart, as soon as I call your wife and clear it with her." The vice president next to me choked on his sandwich.

The problem is, FG that some of these guys just have no clue what it can be like for women in the workplace *now* never mind back when I was first working. They just don't get it.

It's not man bashing, it's truth, DK.

Those with privilege are always the last to see it, and the first to deny that it exists. You don't articulate it that way, but how many times have you been rebuffed only to think 'she just doesn't know me, once she knows me, I'll do x.'

And it may not be true for YOU, but the fact is, men in power are also known for trying to abuse that power. I'm pretty sure you can go through the annals of history and court cases and find out this is the case. There have also been studies discussing why men in power consider themselves invincible and above reproach for things like this.

Sorry to spoil your day with the spoonful of truth.

Look I am not saying its easy for women in that type of work situation but I think about the men who in their minds think they are saying something nice get called to hr when all that needed to be said was please don't do that anymore. That's all.

At my old job a guy who complimented one co-worker in front of a less attractive one got called into HR because him complimenting one and not the other made the less attractive one feel self conscious. Its getting to a point where a lot of men don't want to say anything but hi and bye at work because anything beyond that can be construed as harassment.
Corporate culture is so paranoid over litigation that they will fire potential problems rather than chance a potential law suit.

Then its not men you pompus ass puppet its men of power. You always try to paint a picture of the horrible men holding you down and taking advantage of women when most men are very respectful of women especially grown men because we don't want the problem. Actually talk to some men and stop re-living bad situations with assholes. Most men are decent people period.
