I've been knowing about this for a few years. It's actually his own fault though. Like so many great artists, he ended up on drugs.

    Tragic nonetheless.

Drugs are a lethal thing bro, they can make people do anything for it, judging from what I've seen in shows like Intervention on A&E.

When someone is addicted they are only driven to fulfill that addiction and nothing else matters but the high and then it starts all over again, feeding on itself.

It can lead to an unimaginable path in life as is the case with Sly Stone.

I may be cold, but if someone is an addict I couldn't have them around me at all. Drugs are their master.

Someone donate their paycheck to that man!!!

For real, he should be able to live off the royalties of his music forever.:smt020

More than having issues with drug abuse, IMO this is another sad tale of a gifted musician who was pimped and whored by the music industry.
I bet he doesn't own the publishing rights for any of the music HE wrote and produced for Sly and the Family Stone.

BTW, this is the reason some oldheads HATE rap@@@!!!

    SOmeone give dude a J-O-B.
Shit, let him teach music appreciation at his local middle school.

After reading the article it sounds like, drug induced originally or not, he's mentally ill. Very sad.

Since he sold his entire catalog to Michael Jackson in the 80's, he has no royalty income anymore

My very first 45 record (that doesn't date me or anything, right?) Was Sly & the Family Stone's "Family Affair." Loved that song. Played it 'til it wore out.

That is sad indeed. I just hope he would park his van in a safer location.
