I am not opposed to the death penalty in the most egregious cases (or special circumstances) where the proof is indisputable and undeniable. This case however, is not cut and dried. His sentence should therefore be commuted. An example of a clear cut DP case? This one.... The murders...http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20059158,00.html
I doubt the DA would free the man, only the Supreme Court would had to stop it. The guy did not do it because there is no proof that he killed the cop and most of the withnesses recanted their statments.
judge refused, state supreme court refused. final option is us supreme court. 52 mins until planned execution
There were 2 other cases that touched me deeply where the evidence pointed towards innocence and they were killed. One was conviction by "eyewitness"... and the other was by archaic faulty arson fire investigation tactics that are no longer acceptable. I even made a thread last year about his ^ wrongful execution...v http://www.whitewomenblackmen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15551
i doubt it. he's gotten 3 stays already, can't let this drag on forever. im going on the belief that these people have the information i dont have that makes davis guilty. i know much of it it not available to the public. im putting my faith in them that they are making the right call.
But of it was major evidence, it would be made public. No link to the gun fired? C'mon. You have to be reasonable here.
im just saying there are thousands of pages of documents we haven't seen. the public is used to open and shut cases like this brewer who is getting executed tonight. for all we know, this could be an open and shut case, we just don't have the access to those documents. so instead we speculate instead of knowing the facts.
If it is on the up and up then why isn't everything made public. Why would anything to need to be kept from us. They do that in the beginning to not impede investigations or sully juries but after he's convicted what would be the point?
im not a legal expert. i know theres stuff that they looked at that nobody else has ever seen though. that info is protected for some reason or another. privacy, etc i assume.
As soon as you're a convicted criminal you forgo privacy. If that were the case they wouldn't make court reports public
us supreme court rejects him. will be dead in less then 15 mins. if he did it, he should've been killed years ago. i believe in eye for an eye. if he didn't, hopefully he'll be redeemed in the after life.
You can't use a review as "fact", Mr. Statistics. It is only an opinion. Besides, Georgia is jam-packed full of minorities, so you're saying the state hates itself.
not to mention the georgia supreme court and the georgia panel board have black members on them. some people want to play the race game all day and its annoying as hell. for the 1000th time, troy davis wasn't executed tonight because he was black. he was executed because he was found guilty of murdering a police officer. he's had numerous appeals that failed, and 3 prior stays. enough is enough, time to move on.
