http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/troy-davis-executed-parole-board-denies-clemency-131916604.html His last hope is for the District Atty (Black man) to block the execution. Y'all can send him a message here: http://districtattorney.chathamcounty.org/Home/ContactUs.aspx http://districtattorney.chathamcounty.org/Home/AboutUs.aspx The Kid Rasta
Maybe he did it. Maybe he didn't. But we can't allow a legal system to sentence a man to DEATH with absolutely no evidence whatsoever and questionable eye witness testimony. I don't even know if this guy had a record of previous violent offenses. This is why the police SCARE me, if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and you can't afford a competent legal defense, your life could be OVER. And why are public defender's to a person sooo shitty?? Too many innocent men have been put to death in this country's criminal justice system.
Public defenders are usually paid like crap and are often newly minted lawyers with little experience. One of the reasons that I oppose the death penalty is because we can rarely be absolutely sure, unless there is DNA evidence and a swath of reliable witnesses.
Yup they are usually cutting their teeth and want to keep on the straight narrow path rather than damage their career.
were going to have to trust the board on this one. i dont know if he did it or not, im not privy to all the files they have. that doesn't mean that if i dont know, that he didn't do it. the board has access to evidence the public doesn't, you have to believe they made the right call. it is what it is. troy davis will be a dead man after tomorrow night. if he did murder, he should've been killed years ago, i believe in the eye for an eye mentality. if he didn't do it, hopefully he'll be redeemed in the after life.
The concept of the afterlife is a comforting one isn't it? You only live once and then...you become a cold piece of rotten flesh.
Maybe, if you get arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to death for something you had no part of...you would feel differently. The Kid Rasta
If Troy Davis wasn't a poor Black man and had the resources to pay for an adequate legal defense, he NEVER would have been found guilty of first degree murder based on suspicious eyewitness testimony. Some witnesses were shown ONE picture of the alleged assailant, Troy Davis, and asked by investigators if that's the man they saw the night of the murder??:smt017 How can you have faith in a system that is based less on justice, and more about how skillful an attorney is at manipulating a jury and the law??? What a fucked up thing to say to give your own conscience comfort, 'hopefully he'll be redeemed in the afterlife'. I hope you think the exact same thing if you're the victim of a home invasion and everyone in your home is murdered, except you. Don't worry, your loved ones are in a 'better place'.smh.
Actually, this is the link that a family member (sister) gave on the Tom Joyner morning show, that I found on BlackAmericaWeb.com...it's a petition you can sign - much faster and more effective...and you can post it on facebook. http://act.colorofchange.org/sign/chisolm/ I signed it and tried to get my mother to pass it around to her church friends (via Facebook) but she's a Tea Party freak and so would rather let a most likely innocent man die while she reviews the "facts". Bitch.
go to http://act.colorofchange.org/sign/chisolm/ to sign the petition - maybe it's not too late!! and post it to your facebook profile and get people to pass it on if they feel compelled to sign - to post it to theirs as well!
America's judicial system (especially in the south) is inherently racist and favors whites (both white men and white women) over all other minorities. We are powerless to do anything to change it.
