That's assuming we're in a scenario where there's no economic recovery, and our credit rating takes further downgrades. Poverty has also hit the highest percentage on record. 15.1% of Americans are living in poverty, that's higher than the highest last recorded reading, which was in 1993.

There's an article on HP about that.

There are articles all over the place on this Mikey. It's big news, as much as people like the Tea Party like to deny it.

The real difference is many of the women on the street are being exploited by pimps.

You seem, like Mikey, to see it as a moral issue - as though somehow women are devalued by too much sex. It comes across as a Madonna/Whore complex.

    Rather old fashioned man, eh?

Would you be crushed if your son was getting as much action?

Not trying to steer it anywhere, just asking a straight forward question. I didn't know if you saw this as a moral issue - apparently you do.

I just don't see it that way, but then I tend to think other people's sex lives aren't any of my business anyway.

I don't judge people. On that note my thought is simple. They gotta get the rent paid somehow.

So now selling your body is okay???

I thought feminist were against that sorta thing:smt018:smt043

You have feminism wrong. I'm against exploitation - trafficking, underage prostitution, pimping. If a grown woman who is not being exploited chooses to rent out her body, it's none of my business.

Feminists are not anti-sex, as I should think would have been clear by my posts
    ;-)

I realize that feminists are not anti-sex. I mean, thats obvious BUT selling your body for money???:smt017 Doesn't really fit into the strong, independent women movement that a lot of feminists like to preach imo.

What isn't independent about making your own money using your own resources? Again, I'm not talking about women who are trafficked or pimped, I'm talking about women who CHOOSE to have sex for money, and who do not then have to turn that money over to a pimp.

What's the difference between that and knitting mittens and selling them? I suspect it's a moral thing for a lot of people, and as long as no one's being hurt or exploited, I don't have a moral issue with sex.

Umm its a LOT different than knitting mittens lol. Selling your body is a trashy thing to do imo. I know I would never touch a woman that would do that (no matter how hot she is).

Right. But to me, it's not a moral issue. If it is to you, then I understand where you are coming from. I'm less judgmental about other people's sex lives.

    Gotcha.

But its just my opinion that if a female is okay with being used like a whore for some money, then preaches "girl power" and shit like that I'd probably laugh in her face.

It may be a subtle difference to grasp, but "used like a whore" to me almost implies she's beholden to someone else who is pimping her out. THAT is not "girl power." But if an adult woman who is in charge of her own business and her own life wants to trade sex for money, or bananas, I don't see that as her being used. In fact an argument can be made that she's using the men for money & sex.

Think about it a second - if you can make your own hours, pick only the clients you want, pay your own bills, and have lots of sex, AND have people give you money, would you consider doing it? A lot of men would, but would also judge a woman harshly for doing the same thing

I agree..but it's a constant double-standard. I suggest Mikey spend some time reading this book:

Book report due in two weeks. :)

    Yes. :)

    Yes.

    Abso-freakin-lutely.

I'm a huge proponent of legalizing prostitution because I really feel it would cut down on the trafficking (at least a little), and make it easier to tell who's being exploited and who's not.

I'm reclaiming the word slut. :)

I agree with you on legalization as long as there is regulation around it to try to limit exploitation. I also think there should be more male prostitutes who don't limit their clientele to men. Busy women sometimes just want to get laid too, without all the fuss and bother of a date.

If a female is selling her body, I think its fair to call her a whore. I mean, she is selling her body to the highest bidder for cash. Thats just sad & pathetic in my eyes. Why not just get a real job like a secretary position or something lol.

And i do agree that a lot of men would judge a women harshly for prostitution but lets be honest, women would do the same thing. No woman wants to date a male gigolo that fucks everyone either.
