And it wasn't ugly. It was harsh criticism, yes, but certainly not ugly- at least not in the way most would categorize it.

Well, I told her the reasons I disagreed with a post she made and why I found it particularly troubling and offensive, considering the current state of the world these days and the people in it.

If that's 'ugly', then fine...it's ugly. But when I think 'ugly', I think a slew of random insults that are just so beyond mean and cruel that there's no reason for them.

Wow, your comment piqued me to scan your past posts, because I can't fathom as a newbie you coming off in a way to warrant a neg rep this short in. Especially since youve been quite delightful so far. As I expected, I found nothing worthy of a neg rep, imo. Guess the neg-repper needed their fix?

But if you stand by your convictions and it wasn't random insults, why not confront her on it in the thread? At least allow her to defend her views. Neg reps consisting of opinions relating to a topic are such cop-outs.
