Oprah Winfrey fired her own cousin for talking about Jesus Christ all the times!

As a Christian myself, I find this entire article to be way over the top. Oprah sees herself as a Christian & it's not likely she's holding Christianity against anyone.

Religion, like other parts of one's personal life, is not appropriate for discussion in the workplace. If that was the reason she was fired, her behavior must have been pretty extreme, but I suspect there was more to the firing than she's saying there is. It doesn't really matter though; if Oprah decided the woman needed to be let go, it's her prerogative to fire her. Besides, whatever she was fired for, she probably got fair warning.

It's wrong for Christians & non-Christians alike to force their beliefs on others. If folks are open to conversation about each others' beliefs, that's fine, BUT it's NEVER okay to try to shove your beliefs down another person's throat. There's nothing wrong with wanting to share something you feel is good & special with others, but if they don't want to hear it, it's best to leave it alone.

It's not a Christian's place to condemn someone else for not sharing their beliefs or to save them from their sins, & it's arrogant to to think it is. Christianity is supposed to be based on love, & that's where the focus ought to be IMO.

I can't stand some of u, but it's nice to know i'm not the only one going to hell for being irritated by holier than thou mofos

reminds me of the time my boss removed bibles from workstations, trying to keep work and religion separate

I myself wouldn't mind reading it, but someone else may have been offended. In an environment with Hindu, islam, christ, etc, he just wanted to avoid conflict

Thank you, Pixie. I appreciate that. :)

Sometimes I stink at it, but I do try.

No one's perfect, Tam. We all do the best we can, I think, to be good people. That's what matters most.

Oh, Dear God, no. I'm not part of a Southern Baptist Church. And I'm in the process of moving to California very soon. Soon as God's telling me that it's time for me to go.

North Carolina is my temporary home, not permanently. I practically lived whole of my life in New Jersey, but I recently moved down here more than nearly four years ago.

Once I move to California, out to West Coast, I'm not coming back to East Coast. My old life will be truly finished. God told me that I'm going to be pastor. He used my dear friend to tell me that. Right away, I accepted the position of being pastor myself.

What makes you think that I'm part of a Southern Baptist Church? Is it because the way I act? No. Holy bible book is just what I need to read. I'll be baptized there in California, I really can't wait!

Anyway, about Oprah Winfrey, she's not really a christian. But, I won't get into heated argument.

That is true. I think as long as we're putting strong effort into being good people, that's definitely what counts.

I'm a preachers kid, raised in the church.

These days, I'm not religious at all..... I've found a different path for myself. The LAST thing I want is someone trying to shove a bible up my ass on a daily basis .

My paternal grandfather was a Brit, and a Baptist minister. My dad was loosely Christian, he chose a Congregationalist church because it was closest to the house.

My mother grew up semi-Methodist with a magical practicing mother. My mother is pagan.

Yeah, it was an odd background - now I consider myself sort of pantheistic in that I believe there's a connection between all living things, but I do not worship or honor deity, because I think either it does not exist, or it's utterly detached and therefore rather useless to me. I guess that technically makes me agnostic.

    whats that old saying...

everything is magic or spiritual, until it becomes 'science'

pretty sure if u took electricity, nuclear weapons or solar energy back to the spanish inquisition, people would have burned you at the stake

Precisely. Quantum physics comes closer all the time to explaining the sort of thing I was raised learning how to do. In my opinion, what most people think of as magic is simply science for which we don't yet have the right vocabulary or explanation.

What do you think of life after death?

Frankly, I'd be happier than shit to find out there's no such thing. I have no desire or need to have any further continued existence.

But I was raised with a belief in reincarnation. And since I know that energy is not destroyed, simply changes form, I do still maintain a belief in that. Not transmigration, I don't think we come back as cows, just as people. I've had too many run ins with past life experience/connections not to think there's something to it. I don't believe there's a deity who "judges" us - I think we judge for ourselves what we did right and/or wrong, etc.

I would also say that I don't know whether or not the reincarnation is a strict soul moving from one life and then the next, etc. or whether the information I (and others) have about past lives is specific to our "soul" so to speak, or whether we're tapping into a larger stream of information, if that makes sense.

I am a Christian, not a good one, nevertheless a follower of Christ.

I grew up as a catholic, heavily involved in church, and then there was a time period where I denied God’s existence. There were times when I said fuck you to God for every little bad thing that happened to my life. You know what, the more I turned my back on him the more I got bent over and fucked in the ass raw, one terrible thing after another……Eventually I did find my way back to Christ, now I am a born again Christian, it does not mean I’m perfect. In fact, far from it. No matter how hard I try I succumb to flesh desire and sin every single day.

One thing I know for sure is that I don’t care how smart you are, you can write as good as Espy, can reason as good as Dre, argue as good as Pixie or can philosophize as good as satyr or BBW but aint no way in hell you’re going to convince me that Christ does not exist. I would rather take a bullet right to my thick skull than turning my back on him. When I call Christ’s name, I mean it! I am not trying to impress anyone, I could care less if you’re impressed by my degenerate ass or not. The only person I need to impress is me, myself & I. I have gotten a cream of the crop degree from top school at young age and have been married to beautiful woman b4, so impressing some stranger on the street or online by using Christ’s name is the last thing in my mind.

Having said that I do agree with several posters who suggested to keep your belief to yourself and not to shove it under ppls throat. I respect your belief whether it is with Allah, Buddha, Magic, science, Richard Dawkins or Moammar Gaddafi, hey, its fine by me. I believe what I believe & you can practice what you want. It aint my place to convert you to my way of life.

If you truly indeed have a personal relationship with J.C. then it should be just that; "personal". Meaning keep it to yourself.

Do we automatically have to believe that any and everyone who wears a cross is a Christian just like we tend to assume the obvious when we see a white woman with a queen of spades tattoo?
