I wasn't offended, but when I bring up my experiences to you and just about anyone else on here it's 'oh, you're throwing the victim card', or I get 'well, you don't count because not everyone has those experiences.' Dude, the world is what it is, and you can't pigeon-hole people's experiences and ages like that- Pixie and Ra have a lot to say that should be listened to. You can't discredit experience. You simply can't.

Thanks, DB. It's an eternal problem that young people think older folk have nothing to offer. I know I didn't listen the way I should have at that age. What I wouldnt give to have my grandmothers around now so I could pick their brains!

My son has often done the "experience doesnt mean shit" thing with me. I pointed out that if you pay attention, you learn over time, and I suggested he look at how he thought about things at 14, and now. It sunk in, but he said "Well, Mom, that means when you're 80, you'll probably think you were dumb as shit at 50." I totally agreed.

DK's 30, so there is no excuse why he should still be stuck in a "juvenile" mindset the way he is. I think that's the thing that frustrates me & a lot of other people here about him, especially being that he is extremely intelligent. After his responses last night though, I have to say that whatever remaining bit of legitimacy & credibility regarding anything he brings to the table is gone for me. His need to be right no matter what, even if it means dehumanizing others & devalueing their experiences to enrich the point he is trying to make is too much. I can't take anything he post from now on serious. I'll only be reading it now just to see how outrageous he'll get.

The strange thing is that he wasn't always this bad. I do wonder if something happened and the outrageous behavior is a result. He and I never really had a problem with each other until recently, and when it got ugly, it got ugly. Having spoken to him off the forum, I can attest to his intelligence, but this going off the deep end stuff concerns me.
