So, because we aren't being beaten and raped on a daily basis, we should all just roll over and accept the way things are? We should just be happy that women are getting beaten in domestic violence cases, that rape cases aren't being taken seriously, and that young black men are the first to be arrested and the last to be released?

We should just be OK with that, rather than working together to say that we will not tolerate the complete and utter disrespect for fellow human beings- male or female, white or black, purple, green, or orange. That's what racists and misogynists really want, you know. As long as people keep arguing about who's more oppressed, or people say 'well, it's not as bad as it WAS' and just accept it, it means their pockets are lined, and they don't have to worry about a thing.

As long as we're complacent, their standard of living doesn't have to change. Their comfort levels don't have to change. No one's status quo alters, especially our own... but, you are OK with this? How is that, exactly, Mr. I want to have millions of dollars in the next few years? How do you expect to accomplish that, exactly, when the very people who would pay you that money are the very people who are hoping that they WON'T have to pay you that money because, well, at least you have A JOB right? Even if it's not THE job you want, you should be happy, because your grandfather probably wouldn't have even been allowed in the front doors of the office at one time.

You working as a low-level mailroom clerk should be just fine- you don't really want to be a CEO, do you? That's a lot of hours, and you could be out with your buddies playing basketball, talking about how great life is compared to your grandparents' because you're making $13.50 per hour, and they were shaking out some white lady's sheets for $2 a week. But damn, life sure is BETTER than it was 30, 40, 50 years ago- making less on the dollar than a white man, so might as well not complain about it, right? Why bother to have dreams or try to make things better. Feel free to explain that one to your kids.
