I didn't either. Throat cancer is a horror show, I lost a good friend to it about 3 years ago. Surgery after surgery, chemo after chemo. Nightmare stuff. May he rest peacefully
I heard this late last night, Tony Bruno the radio show host said he saw Ashford & Simpson recently and his voice was very strong. R.I.P. Never heard a bad thing about the man as a professional, husband and father. A wonderful singer, songwriter and performer.
R.I.P. Nick Ashford. Back in the day, I used to see Nick driving his Rolls in the park -- Seaside -- in my hometown. I would holla at him as he drove by. R.I.P Nick! They wrote a lot of hits , and I'm not talking bullshit. They wrote classics. Most of their stuff is still popular today. Will today's song writers have the same mileage? Probably not.
SD,they also sang another version "Solid Like Barack" on the Larry King show. One of my faves is "Highrise". He and his wife are gifted songwriters and Nick would be sorely missed.
