ouch....but c'mon man...that ad is racist than a mofo. We shouldn't give people a pass for shitting on us...Jews don't..Arabs don't...even southern crackers don't.
He claims to be a businessman. I'd like to see what sort of business he runs with that pompous attitude. Classless behavior like that would only attract flies and other nasty vermin.
Goodlove gets restricted access, yet the mods let this guy fester all over the forums after endless salvos of personal attacks in about 90 percent of his posts. am i missing something? is something broken with the system here :smt017 no more restricted access unless this guy goes with them, stop playin around
Goodlove isn't the big shocker (although that is surprising since he doesn't come off as a dick) as much as satyr getting restricted access a while back. That really baffled me a bunch.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/18/nivea-ad-racist_n_930501.html Is Nivea's "Re-Civilize Yourself" ad racist? Absolutely -- the slogan would have never been used with a white model. 51.52% Nah -- just an unfortunate coincidence. 48.48% First comment on the page mentioned exactly what I said as well.
What bugs me here is what's in bold... I'm puzzled as how does having a lot of hair correlate to people being savages? That's the worst kind of interpretation someone could give and to me, I only think people are looking too deep into something that doesn't exist. So they are creating this idea. Besides, it's just a poll based on sampling data. Doesn't really mean that it's definitely racist. Especially when the numbers are at 52-48%. Maybe if it was 90%, then there would be some rethinking.
Nivea pulled the ad...... ***********800080]http://adage.com/article/the-big-tent/nivea-pulls-ad-apologizes-racism-accusations/229368/[/COLOR]
Yet no call for the white character to "re-civilize" himself. I guess I was wrong that they wouldn't do a similar ad for a white character.
interesting like the article points out, someone in marketing should have simply switched the ads if you know something may offend a specific group with relations to race and historical implications, why would you give it a green light? wonder if they still got a job?
on the contrary i stand by my argument. I also stand by the assertion that as a company, you have to view all angles and try to avoid sticky racial situations like this.
