9th deployment, what the fuck? Get us out of fucken Iraq, Afghan, Libya, & all these muzzy places. What the fuck are we doing there????? Bring our men and women back to their loved ones.
Fuck them assholes who hate on America daily but extend their hands faster than a missile for fucken American handouts, Pakistan comes to mind. We have enough oil in this Country, drill here & drill now, fuck the environmental wackos. Drilling will create job for million unemployed Americans. If you don’t want to drill then fund the scientists & their projects well for alternate energy. Fuck Al Gore, talking about global warming meanwhile he is zipping around the globe with his gas guzzling jet. Enough depending on the Middle East oil. This suicide is just one you HEARD of, it goes on a lot more than the American public knows. I am in TOTAL agreement in bringing our troops home. The stress this puts not only on the soldier but his family at home can be unbearable at times.

 

I so agree. Stupid question alert...........but how long is a tour?? Not being or being connected to someone military I have no idea. The whole thing seems excessive.

 

I am sure Ymra and Armyranger are much better equiped than me to answer this question. But from what I heard it can be 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and so on, it varies... I will let those guys elaborate for ya.

when a Ranger commits suicide, you know there's a problem

not to sound too callous tho, when you align yourself to get into a Ranger battalion (or any other elite unit that's ready to deploy within 18 hours), you expect to live within a certain operational 'tempo' with the regiment. That's why the respect is given to you when you're actually assigned to a battalion, as that literally becomes your way of life. He rangered up for those 8 previous deployments, but I guess that 9th one was the straw that broke the camel's back.:smt011

 

you have to keep in mind that his unit was not a regular one. It's a fact that SOCOM (no not the game) and all of its units are picking up the slack as the pressure mounts to bring the troops home. These guys are facing more and more deployments, as the administration develops a plan to move the bulk of the ground guys out. That's how bad it is.

But like I said in my previous post, when you decide that you want to go to a special unit, you should already be aware that you're going to get used more than a tool in a garden shed. Operational/combat experience looks very good when going for promotions.

 

But still tho bro, this young woman lost her husband. I mean for what, what the fuck are we getting out of the Middle East bullshit? This shit is taking too long, cost so many lives and significant tax dollars. It just fucken pathetic.

 

i know..i'm just stating the obvious

there's a reason why divorce rates generally go up during times of war. So many women are just fed up with worrying about whether or not their Marine is going to come home with all of his legs, or if their Ranger husband will still be the same man they married. I understand the mission, but I also understood the mission in Vietnam. You expect casualties in war, but at what point do the means justify the end?


I hope they enjoy their new found freedom.

I dont think we lost that many special ops guys in one single incident, since the days of Vietnam and raids on our special forces bases.
