If you actually know who all the characters are that show up in this video, then "yes" you are a nerd.
Dark Knight Rises "Batplane"? What looks like some sort of flying vehicle on a mobile hydraulic lift of some sort has reportedly been seen in down town Pittsburgh where some scenes for The Dark Knight Rises are being filmed. Speculation is that it could be a possible take on an air vehicle for Batman that will appear in the film.
I disliked the bat tank(never will I call it a batmobile) I just can not believe how much grabage is being put into this movie. I don't like this flying piece of crap either. Batman use to be sneaky like a ninja but it seems like they want to be loud as can be. How the heck can you be conspicuous with a tank!
As I mentioned up thread, Chris Nolan made the decision to keep this take on Batman as real world as possible and hasn't played up the "above normal" attributes of Batman as seen in comics or in animation. A lot of the things that work in comics come off kind of cheesy if translated literally onto the big screen. I'll wait until the movie comes out until I make a judgment on how the flying vehicle works in the context of the story being told. Personally I had no problem with "the Tumbler" since it was shown that it indeed had stealth & silent running capabilities (being a military vehicle by design)so it fit with the Batman being stealth angle. From whats being shown in the filming with this new vehicle, it appears like its more of a low altitude hover craft being it's at street level and I would assume it would have the same military application stealth/silent running capabilities like the Tumbler.
Driving a tank through a city is not a real world thing. I don't recall at any time Batman driving a tank through a city in the dcau. also, any one of batman's cars that I have seen would do a better job than that tank at "stealth & silent running capabilities". That thing left a huge mess through that city and would have easily been followed through the city. People who liked that thing just liked to see big toys smashing stuff. Admit it!!!!
Dude. Please don't go Ubernerd on me. That's equivalent to being comic book PC. We're talking about a guy who puts on a costume with a bat theme to fight crime. It's all fictional entertainment. Both movie & comic. And as far as Batman driving a tank in the DCU.....The Dark Knight Returns back in the 80's by Frank Miller I'm guessing doesn't count from your POV since it's not "regular DC continuity". It's probably where they got the idea to use the Tumbler in these movie takes.
lol people that do this take the fun out of everything the shit is meant to be entertainment like you said. that's why me and critics never see eye to eye. They gave Battle Los Angeles crummy reviews, but I watched the film more times than I watched Schindler's List or The Pianist. Why? Because I find military shooters with 'boom-boom sparkle' enjoying.
My man is perfectly within his rights to not like “the tank” but to say that it doesn’t fit in with what goes on or has gone on in the comic book? From what I've seen of comic books over the last ten years or so it looks like they "reboot" everything damn near every year to six months, so I don't know why anyone that reads or use to read comic books would get upset that they would do something "different" in a movie. A lot of the changes they make for movies based on comic books are done to get people who don't read comic books into the movie. It's about that money. The more people watching, then the more money coming in. And if you want to talk about being true to the source material, then people should also have a problem with the costume. Now tell me which of these two designs to you looks more “realistic” as far as a man that dresses in a bat costume “striking fear into you”, especially if you never got into comic books and you are watching this: Costume A, which is closer to what he looks like in the comic books: Or the costume that was/is used for the actual movies :
Well I was simply pointing out a tank is not "stealth & silent running". whether or not the operator of the tank wants to put a costume or not is a different story. I stuck with the DCAU because it is more well known and more coherent than than the comics.(there can be several versions of a hero).
terrible terrible terrible acting. They were right:smt011:smt011:smt011 but what do I know. I liked sucker punch and that was smashed too. If you grade Battle Los Angeles for graphics and what not then it is ok, but this was some old guy trying to prove that he has "it" with the young bucks kind of thing. It is a typical script but the graphics were awesome. Also, I go to a movie to be submerged in it. It is hard to do that when you know what is going to happen or things are out of place.
I have never given hell on any batman movie. It is just that freaking tank man. Nolan could have done the movie without the tank. It would have been the same.
True he could have done it with out a vehicle but the Batmobile is a "known" part of the Batman mythos, even among people who don't get into comics and was something that was expected. Putting him in an ordinary "pimped out car" wouldn't have fit with what Nolan was establishing in this take. And you do realize that "the tank" is about the size of a humvee? So in some regards it's plausible to see something that big rolling down the street. Just saying.
Well I said without the tank. I agree there needs to be a batmobile but it has to be stealth oriented and yes I am aware that there are questionable stelath oriented batmobiles. The coolest strip I have ever seen of batmobiles
