Rioting Widens in London on 3rd Night of Unrest

I agree the show of armed force could be a deterrent...and if this was happening in the US i do believe the military would have been mustered by this point...but i would also say that the control methods i mentioned previously would be tried first...rather than opening fire on unarmed civilians. This is not just in any counrty....and i thought this started because the police shot a man.....????? i am a little confused

i think the media's efffort in trying to portray this as a race riot is being proven false be the numerous vid's and pic's.....it is obviously about class not race...I just hope it ends soon.... and I hope MWacy stays safe and continues her updates.

 

Bingo, though some of them apparently stayed up in Manchester to cause trouble. I have been watching BBC online the last few days and I have not heard them mention race once. However, they are missing that there are economic reasons which leave people feeling like it doesnt matter if they screw up their own neighborhoods.

 

Yes it started because a cop shot a black man but in the UK most police men do not have guns , they have batons and large dogs.

The worst thing for me, about all this, has been seeing how it has 'brought out so many prejudices' in people I thought were smarter. Also found a blog post is an interesting read and which illustrates those people they're not thinking clearly.

This happened yesterday. I was on Twitter Monday night when the call for volunteers began to go out.

The riots up north are seen as copy cat riots but in all truth who knows that any came from Manchester, Liverpool, Scarborough, Bolton, The shetland isles, bognor regis or llandudno.

Sure the accent can give clues, but all that is apparent is that it is done by mindless, vile, recalcitrant idiots.

 

It is not only the BNP, the racist site, the neo-nazis who are calling this a race riot, lots of folks labeling it as the race riot of the 1980's. Their reasoning, the 29 yo guy who got murdered by the COPS was a BM, the ppl who went to the police station marching peacefully demanding justice initially were mostly blacks, but now the whole thing erupted & you got every race participating in it.

It has some component of race, class warfare and just some hooligans of every race who want to get a free plasma TV, Video games, or just angry young kids who wants to burn stuff.

The chicken is coming home to roost!!! The Brits went around the world to loot and destroy, calling our ppl savage and uncivilized. Taking all these Africans, pakistains and Asians as a servant, door man, etc.... now the descendants are revolting. I hope they bring that nation to her fucken knees.

 

the high unemployment, racism (report on CNN talked about the racism there), classism (budget cuts in social programs) and the shooting of that guy was the perfect mix for this riot

Believe it or not, this has been going on since humans has been around.

No matter how you try to analyze it, whenever you have a large class of people who are down on their luck and can't see an opportunity to make their situation better, you've always had this. The French Revolution back in the late 1770's was about the hungrey lower class and the fat upper class. It has happened in China, India, everywhere. There are some countries where the government won't allow you to make over a certain amount. In other countries, they will kill the super rich.

The U.S. has dodged that bullet because you have a large middle class. These are usually the people who started with nothing but were able to improve their situation.

Regardless if the youth in London were stealing Laptops or loafs of bread, history has repeated itself in this situation, over and over. You have a large lower class who can't improve their situation, it is bound to happen sooner or later.

If you go out on the streets and ask MOST of the looters why they are doing it, you will have the same answer. Of course you're going to have your opportunists who live for these moments, they will riot no matter what.

 

Some of those rioters or what I call them super yobs are daft when it comes to their masks.

 

I don't think it's as simple as that, many would argue that the class system in the UK is divided into working class, lower middle, middle midle, upper middle and upper class.

Not all middle class have have started with nothing, most i would argue have started with something.

 

LOL, I was thinking the same thing. Like do they specially go out and purchase those masks for the express purpose of vandalism and looting. Seems so.

 

It's never okay to riot...ever. I dont give a fuck if a lot of these scumbag thugs are upset at the cops, are unemployed or pissed off at the rich. It doesn't give them the right to destroy property, businesses, buildings or cars.
