Why would that name even be in one's mind? If it was not a thought first? I have some issues with Pres. Obama but, the inability of so Republicans, Tea Baggers and just regular Americans to discuss their 'concerns' without conjuring up their bigotry and ignorance is very telling about the true soul of many people.
tar baby? u know what, id hate to see what these cornbread mothafuckas would say if Obama was REALLY black shit's off the hook already and this brotha is only a few shades away from being white
looks like Obama will be getting 2012, on the basis of being a martyr how can you not like someone that takes as much crap as he does he's fighting racial discrimination ( a '100 years war' so to speak) along with the expected political battles
Tar baby?? GTFOH. Pat Buchanan was debating Al Sharpton on MSNBC last night, and he kept referring to the President as 'that's your boy, gotta defend your boy'. On the face of it, we all know that's a familiar expression, however when a WM who grew up in the age of segregation indirectly references the first Black POTUS with the term, 'boy', it takes on covert racial connotations. Conservatives LOVE to do this shit, skate on that razor's edge, then accuse you for being hyper-sensitive when you call them on it. I forgot the specific incident, but there was a congressman who used the word 'niggardly' to describe a fellow legislator. Fine, it is a real word, but rarely used because it SOUNDS messed up. Tar baby is an appropriate metaphor in certain circumstances, but not when you're describing a BLACK PRESIDENT. Down South 'tar baby' is one of those words like 'coon', another way to call someone a nigger when the N-word is too impolite. You just know that asshole thought that whole scenario out before he went on the radio and probably even practiced it. Most of the people I know were ecstatic when Obama was elected, others were nonchalant, but times like this I have to remind myself there were muthafuccas LOSING THEIR MINDS when Obama was elected, who thought the fuccin Jefferson Memorial was going explode when Obama was sworn in.
FIXD.* That is absolutely true. Makes you wanna punch them right in the nose and break it upon impact.
the way boy is being used there is not the same as a WM calling you 'boy' instead of sir or mister, an indication that you are a man worthy of that courtesy. Pat saying 'listen boy, go tell Obama he's wrong with the debt plan' would be a reference to them good ole days.
True, but then Pat Buchanan made sure to apologize for saying it the next day on Morning Joe, which tells me he knew what was up. It's one of those vague forms of bigotry, where if you overreact people put the blame on you. He said it several times during the convo with Sharpton, so take it as you will.
Irish trash like Buchanan were once called the 'niggers or europe'..he should really sit his old dry-rotted ass down somewhere.
he had to apologize regardless if his comment was meant to be racist or not, because people would be offended by it.. if he didnt apologize and really felt that his comment wasnt racist, people would still be calling for his head, saying that he was a typical arrogant racist and numb to the feelings of african-americans i see both sides of the tar-baby issue, and as a white politician that guy should have known better he just self-destructed any national career he wanted embrace the power of the media though, and the ease of real-time access to these types of stories. It's harder for people to do what they want without scrutiny
Unfortunately, that's MY district. This guy is an even bigger douchenozzle than you think. His non-apology apology went something like "I'm sorry I used a term SOME PEOPLE find insensitive."
He should have known better. It's not like this district is all white. FFS, in this city we've got two air force bases and Fort Carson. But he's an asshole. He robocalls everyone monthly with a recorded "update" on his doings. It gives me great pleasure to hang the fuck up the instant I hear his voice.
