    What??

    When did Mike Vick die??

Everyone admits she had a drug problem and was heavy into her addiction. The issue is, for some because Amy had a drug addiction, her untimely passing makes her less relevant as an artist and she doesn't deserve to be mourned.

BTW, stop comparing shit. Everything on this board isn't a competition between the boys v. the girls.

Vick is Vick. Amy is Amy.

Their respective situations aren't remotely similar.

Amy Winehouse had an addiction. Addiction is a disease. Being an asshole isn't a disease.

Ha! I have it, and never use it because it doesn't seem to help the MS, though a lot of patients who have it find it helps much more than anything else for the symptoms of spasms, migraine and tremor.

I get both sides. But really, is this worth arguing about?

LOL yeah, it can be, but it makes me eat crap. Sometimes, physically it makes me feel worse, so I'm careful about it.

    LOL!!

    We're just conversatin'.

No serious hate for anyone on this board, whether they be pro- or anti- Winehouse.

FWIW, I felt the same way when Rick James kicked it.

I just don't like it when you say a deceased artist's name like Kurt Kobain/Jimi Hendrix/Charlie Parker, etc., and the FIRST thing some smart-ass says is, 'junkie.'

There was an impromptu poll taken yesterday that asked if she will be most remembered as
    A.). a singer or B.) a drug addict , and 89% of respondents said B.

    So what??

Most people think of Kurt Kobain as a heroin junkie who blew off half his head with a double barrel shotgun.

Jim Hendrix was a horse fiend who asphyxiated on his own vomit.

Notorious B.I.G. is considered by many to be a fat Black drug dealer who died living the life he was rapping about.

Most of those people I bet never even bought or heard the girl's music, so what do they know??

Take note of all the prominent musicians and vocal artists who offered their condolences and deepest sympathies after Amy's passing.

Ask the people who KNOW, those in the industry, and I think you'll get a better perspective.

Amy Winehouse released two incredible, soul stirring albums in her short time here on earth, more than most people IMO will ever accomplish.

I'm not disagreeing with you - in fact I voted A.) in the poll. I was pointing out the majority vote..and it was voted by those who follow the entertainment industry, not your average Joe Shmo who have never heard her music. I don't think there are many people worldwide who haven't heard at least one of her songs. I loved her voice, I feel it's a genuine loss to the music world (I don't think ADELE even comes near to Amy's natural voice) and when one thinks what could have been....it's truly very sad.

I think it just goes to show you in our times of internet and access to info, we know way more about celebs lives than we probably should. She was truly talented and her demons couldn't supress that. I enjoyed her music. She is one of the few singers who sounds good live. She didn't need all the production to make her sound good.

After tree p's post I looked up her mom and it it very sad.

    Winehouse.
The name lends itself to juvenile name-calling and corruptions (wine-0, beerhouse, etc.) But that was before a certain daughter made the name literal. Enter Amy Winehouse. “No one can stop her once she’s made her mind up, but she never thinks of the consequences,” says mother Janice. The parents have had to watch from afar as Amy has taken a meteoric rise musically and at the same time a dramatic plunge into drugs, all with her addict husband Blake. Last year, Janice finally had had enough going to the press with one of the most inflammatory and sad comments a parent has publicly said about their celebrity child: ” I realize my daughter could be dead within the year.” British tabloids trumpeted the quote, but there was more.”We’re watching her kill herself, slowly,” the mum said. “I’ve already come to terms with her dead. I’ve steeled myself to ask her what ground she wants to be buried in, which cemetery. Because the drugs will get her if she stays on this road.” Amy was put in rehab last year and admitted to the hospital several times for complications, but hopefully she’ll stay clean.

The most frustrating that Winehouse did threw it away by not making the effort to get clean. She did not make another album after the one that made her big. It is so predictable and many tried to help but, she rebuffed their efforts. Thank goodness Joss Stone not only kept the faith on recording and performing Soul Music but, dating brothers who treat her right. Winehouse dated and married a punk and got tats like him. She was just a pop singer who ended up like her peers whom did more work than she.

Whats ironic about your Joss Stone comment is that here someone else is trying to TAKE HER LIFE. (she has recently received death threats...)

I found interesting these two differing opinions I read elsewhere...

"Some of us fall down and get back up. Some of us don't. Rest in peace Amy. You no longer have to battle your demons. To her entourage: Party's over."

"R.I.P my ass, its not like she died of cancer. She took that low road. Sorry but i cant cry for her. I please don't tell me about pressure. I take the nyc train to work everyday and report to a boss and a pay-check that suck. Then i go home, have a cold beer, some pussy or jerk off...not put a spoon up my nose. Fuck her."

I love Joss Stone. I was blown away the first time I heard her, I couldnt believe a voice that mature came out of a 16 year old.

As for Amy Winehouse...addiction is a beast, and part of addiction is not recognizing you need help - thinking youve got it under control

you dont get addicted to something unless you made a conscious decision to do it in the first place, disease or not. What's next, someone going to say she acquired the crack disease randomly like cancer or shit?

bottom line is when governments, parents and teachers tell you that drugs like crack or coke are bad, you need to pay fucking attention.:smt023
