Ja LA .. we know it's all about the eyes with you, of course!

I like the thread.. Lots of the women have athletic, healthy bodies.

Of course any model shots have air brushing, that's not news so who's fussed.

I have often admired the true African female form and marvelled at a naturally flat stomach with a curve in the back, don't flame me- appiah knows the shape I'm talking about. We can all learn from each other.

My point being that genetics plays a major role but we blame bad diet on genetics too often, it's junk food like processed, refined and alcohol that gives even slim women tummies sometimes. In other places women have to be much bigger to develop one, and I'm sure it's that unnatural crap a lot of us eat.

They arent starving themselves, just less access to all that shit or choose it less often. Soon as money types go for it every day, blam!!! There's that bigger belly.

Body image aside, a waist line too big (34 inch or about 87cm for white female) puts you at extra risk for heart disease, diabetes and fertility problems.

Wow, admittedly, I have a small waist at 28" when I'm in shape at 5'9"/190 lbs. these days, but I'm surprised at the waist size that you showed as the maximum for a woman. It seems to me that this is size is average at most, and I don't mean for obese women.

Normally, waist size is related to height. So, I might expect that a woman at a height of 5'7" or taller could have a flat stomach and a waist of 34". Is this size supported by scientific evidence, and if so, what height woman did they specify for this height?

You are right- many women would meet this. Australia and the US are two of the most overweight and obese countries in the world though.

The measurement was published in a 2006 study in the premier British medical journal The Lancet and was 35inch for women. Is is true though that a march 26 2011 research paper in the lancet found overall obesity and high BMI in the general population more important in cancer, morbidity and cardiovascular disease more critical than abdominal fat alone. It's still accepted generally though, for example by Australia's scientific research body the csiro, which is highly respected in the international scientific community and advises the aus government.

Detailed medical studies also break it down to the waist to hip ratio, but the circumference of the waist has less to do with height than you might think- talking about the true waist measured below the bust and above the hips around the narrowest portion. A taller person does not necessarily have a wider torso.

On average the waist should measure no larger than 32 1/2" for women & 35" for men. Another method to determine what it should measure is half a person's height in inches. Anything larger affects the omentum (the protective apron of fat in the abdomen), & the excess fat is like poison that damages the liver & other organs, which of course leads to serious health issues.

Correct, thanks for the clarification on the measurements.

I'm not sure of the imperial system, we use metric of course.

All these women have flat tummies, yes, but hardly any curves. Now above, I think they have the ideal bodies. Jennifer Love Hewitts body is something I wouldn't mind mine looking like.
