Well you know, even though they're human beings, some of us look up to and believe in some people and aren't completely void and emotionally bankrupt like you are.

Dre-when ppl speak of luck, they are talking about being on the right place at the right time, making the right shot at critical moment, having a great game of their lives when recruiters are around, etc....No one is saying that talent and hard work are not the critical factor for their success, at least I am not. Tiger worked his ass off since the age 2 or something like that, so the guy deserves the elite place on that sport, he earned it.
Example of luck, if you look at Erin Rogers, super bowl MVP & the current Packers QB story, that tells you what luck is about in sport. The recruiter who went to watch the Junior college game that day didn't go to that stadium to talk to Rogers. He went there to recruit a wide receiver but Rogers happen to have a game of his life that day, and that opened the door for him to go to Cal, prior to that no one wanted Rogers in their college team, except a lousy walk on opportunity that was offered to him by U of I.

DB-I kind of agree with what you're saying, sport stars don't do a Got damn thing that is worth millions. They don't save lives, don’t teach the future generation, they are not spending day and night to discover cure for cancer, etc.... But you have to realize that they provide entertainment to ppl, which is a major deal especially in the States. Also let's not forget that the owners & general managers of teams make boatload of money on the back of the players, so the players deserve to get paid serious cash for their labor. You can say the same thing about actors, musicians, painters, dancers, directors, etc...But at the end of the day they are providing what the ppl want and they’re getting paid for their service. When Ppl complain A-rod makes 25 mil/year, my answer to them, if you don't like it then don't go to Yankees game and support his salary, don’t buy his jersey or the things that he endorse, that simple

I agree with this. Iggy you need to fight fair when people disagree with you. Attacking their person is low blow. Usually if you don't have an arguement is when you resort to attacking the person. So stick to the facts.

That is why I pointed out John Daly. Just as talented in his heydey as Tiger. He became a loudmouth drunk who fvcked every hoe in sight. He couldn't endorse sh*t. You gotta watch your name........it means everything.

evidently no one else here understands the marketing end of the sports world...it is a business as well...i think we should watch to see what kind of endorsements lebron gets this next year...he and wade did not do themselves any favors getting caught on camera pretending to be sick and mocking dirk...unfortunately that will follow them everywhere they go...it is stupid things that end up costing them big money...probably more money than any divorce settlement or child support...

Let's get on the same page because I often think we lose our objectives.
Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretsky, Usain Bolt, Mike Tyson, Lebron James, Derek Jeter, Payton Manning.

    Were all these men lucky?

Luck as it would apply to sports.

Think about Apolo Ohno. One Olympics he couldn't lose and the next, couldn't win. He was still in his prime. It was a matter of luck and who won in the time trials and who he had to face. Who had a bad day and who had a good one.

Think about football combines. What if you are top man going in.........you have a bad day and you don't get looked at and picked because of it. You got the talent but you needed luck to have a good day. :(

Athletes aren't "on" every day. Lady luck has to put you in the right place at the right times. Let you meet the right people.

I watched my dad, an athlete and have dated a pro athlete who also later was asst. coach of a major league team. So no condecending lectures for me thanks.

I said no such thing. A long walk off a short pier is the same, to me, as saying 'sit on a tack'. I wasn't wishing death on you.

And really, Iggy, come clean. After that rep you left me earlier, you deserved way more than my telling you to sit on a tack, but I didn't. And don't deny it- I KNOW it was you.

If you feel so poorly about yourself that you feel the need to try to insult my appearance, then you go right ahead. You don't phase me.

when lippy got all batshit and called me meathead, I called her fat

bottom line is if you cry foul when someone talks shit, you don't need to be talking tough shit out the side of your mouth to begin with

smdh at these mothafuckas jumpin on iggy and givin db a pass like LAPD

It's your mess, clean it up. You have a disinclination for White women to begin with, it's only fitting that your thread would have the men and women arguing with each other.

tbh ladies, john daly is a terrible example. he never worked on his game and tiger did. endorsements went to the better player. and that has nothing to do with luck. it's about descisions. tiger choose to put in the work, daly didn't.....to try to downplay it, is highily insulting.....

when did lippy call you a meathead...then you called me fat:smt102 kinda like how Mr. F calls me a old hag with a sandy pussy and then i call him tubby midget with a little dick

lippy will have to agree...fair is fair...if one is going to get hit with an insult then the other should be hit with an insult infraction right back

now we have a couple of cowards that like to use their signature to insult...lippy thought about it but after much consideration...i decided that i am not going to get down on their level...they can wallow in their own unhappiness together:D

how about we just wait and see how many companies want lebron to endorse their products next year...then we can decide if it is all about talent or more about character and luck
