I have not seen Billy Dee Williams or Morgan Freeman going after young women like those other stars but, they are Black.
You're wrong though. Most of those you mentioned, feature women over 30. You said 20 something. But I do get what you're sayin though. I can see how it would frustrate cougars since they arent getting their fair share.
People who would get upset over this are the following: 1. Have no knowledge of Norse Mythology at all. 2. Racist cretins without a logical foundation to be against a loosely based story. 3. An utter insult to human intelligence.
I had a huge crush on Mr. Williams back in the 70s. Morgan Freeman..I've never found him especially attractive but the man is incredibly talented.
Damn you beat me to it lol. FG tried to make the same argument and it seems like no one had a problem with the Australian lead especially if they were looking for authenticity and to be real since when did Norse Gods go to North America?
You kinda missed the point - if that film was about African mythology it would be ridiculous to cast a white actor. If the film was about a comic book series with a made up storyline which basically used only the names of African gods, that's a whole 'nother thing.
What's more most actresses over 32 get cast as the "mother" and most over 40 get cast as the "grandmother" of teen/adult actors/actresses. Not a lot of good roles for most over 40, Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep notwithstanding. I can't really imagine getting seriously involved with a man under 40ish. I mean...one has to *talk*sometimes, yanno? Already the young guy I'm seeing is getting on my nerves with behavior I find immature - he's just turned 33.
I'm aware of that. Hence my response. And to answer your question, redirect to my original post relating to this matter. But I'll reiterate: "If it's a movies based on a comic book series and less to with actual mythology, then no one should be up in arms since it's a fictional movie based on a fictional setting exaggerating a fictional story." In short, no I wouldn't be pissed off at all.
Do you think you're the exception or the rule love? This is also in my book. Women often confuse personal views as the norm where as men don't focus on theirs enough.
She's actually right. You pretty much missed the point altogether. This is a comic book series based off of a mythological story and told in a loose point. And the comic book version shows it all to well. If it was a story being told from it's authentic origins, then there would be some accuracy issues. They would have to be of the image of where it originated from. But in this case, the Council of Conservative Citizens - a hate based White Supremacist group who started the boycott in the first place, have no logical grounds to get pissed off over the casting in the first place.
I don't think it's a girl/boy thing (most of my male friends accuse me of having a "boy brain" anyway), I think it's individual. Yes, I'm successful, and have the luxury not to have to think about things like how much a guy makes. (I also recognize that privilege as white and intelligent and articulate played a part in my success). But I've sort of always taken people as they are and assessed them based on internal stuff and not the external things. Maybe it's how I'm wired, or how I was raised...I don't know.
You're speaking on irrelevance, paniro. Again, you have yet demonstrated how exactly they have a point relating a comic book series. Loki may have been predominantly portrayed as a white guy, but he also was a boyish character with a slight green hue in some of the interpretations of the comics and yet the dickheads seemingly didn't care about that. Again, this isn't authenticity. This is merely comic book interpretation from one artist to another. This is no different. Also, when speaking on movies, it's hard to keep within the comics and compress all elements in a two hour period spanning multiple sequels because it would be too redundant. The filmmaker's vision is his/her own and they are allowed to do as they see fit. They are based on the comic series and follow certain elements of the storyline all the while maintaining the core aspects of the characters and their development cycle. However, this is merely irrelevant. These people were pissed off because, out of all of the non-Scandinavian actors, they picked on the black guy. If they were remotely consistent, then they would criticize the whole cast, let alone the comic book series outright. Therefore, they have no reasonable basis to be bigoted and utterly illogical. Why not simply being closer?
