The sad thing is that's not true. My points, even as badly worded as those last two posts were, should be extremely obvious. For reasons I can't get into I'm really holding back with my thoughts and opinions on this board, but I will say I have had discussions like this with plenty of other people before and those folks too end up saying each time "hey, you are so right." However for the life of me I don't understand why these same folks, all of whom share similiar interests with me in regards of black people in cinema, never came to these same conclusions on their own. They have just as much access to the information as I do.

Loser ass brothers hoping that some unattainable white actress will date a black man. You can't walk five feet without bumping into a similar thread.

Sad thing is that most black audiences wouldn't support anything that isn't coonery. They'd spend money on a Tyler Perry film or some faux-gospel film than anything that wasn't in the box (ie Black action films that weren't geared for direct to DVD).

Dude I'm not sitting back and marveling at anything I just gave the guy credit for the work he did nothing more. In that particular film he stood out more so than the other characters. I personally blame Snipes for it sucking. He was the lead and read the script and still decided to participate in that pile of shit. If I were him I would have been pissed since the second film had him romantically linked to a gorgeous woman he didn't even get to kiss but the sad thing is dudes like him and other bm leads have the money to produce films that we as black men want to see but we don't have the purchasing power to make it a reality in this country. Or we won't create cool enough characters who have the personality to carry a film like Blade did and Hitchcock and create good romantic scenes. I would love to see a black twilight or even better a black LOTR but the problem is will studios invest in it.

On the superhero thing, there was a huge dustup about Thor being played by a black actor in ...crap I can't remember the name of the superhero film from a couple of months ago.

And it's right on the money that black actors don't get paired with white actresses - but that's the same thing as why white actors in their 50s and above get paired with 20 something actresses, but it's rare as hen's teeth to see a woman in her 50s get paired with a younger actor - unless the age difference is the *point* of the film.

It's because movies are made for, and by, white guys, so it's their fantasies we see up on the screen.

And Charlize? We *all* need a man, dear. ;-)

That's not the same thing though. A 50 something woman with a 20 something guy wouldn't be bought as something romantic or even believable where as black dudes as lead and romantic interests are believable. But I agree it's the same Jewish white guys who love to paint the world in their image even the fantasy worlds.

Why isn't that believable if a fifty something guy and a twenty something woman is?

I think that's slightly over exaggerated. Maybe 40s and late 20s or 50s and mid 30s but not 50s and 20s. And the most obvious reason to answer your question is what attracts us to you is different than what attracts you to us. Women are generally attracted to well accomplished powerful men. That's why you see physical duds like Trump with beauty queens not to mention the loads of daddy issues most women are always trying to work out.
Men generally choose beauty over power any day of the week. No guy is gonna choose Oprah over Charlize Theron where as there are women who will shove (insert name of great looking guy here) for a shot at being the new Mrs Gates. See my point?

Yes and no. I do know that a lot of men have trouble with a powerful woman - a lot of men have been threatened by my success and my attitude in the past. One of the reasons I'm liking this place is that you guys seem to revel in my attitude instead of finding it castrating or something.

But perhaps since I am a successful, strong woman, I don't look for power or money in a man, I never have. I look for brains, integrity, wit, and I'm shallow enough to admit a good looking man can turn my head on the street. Hell, the young man I'm flinging with at the moment and I have very little in common, and while he's bright enough, he's neither witty nor intellectual. My attraction to him is really a physical thing - he's gorgeous. I suppose that makes me shallow, but what the hell - I'm 52. I've earned the right to a shallow moment or two. But whether or not a man has "power" or "money" has zip to do with whether or not I find him interesting or attractive. It's all in the brain, the wit, the integrity and the attitude.

What movies have 50 yr old actors paired up with 20 something actresses??? Off the top of my head the only one I can think of is Lost in Translation (with Bill Murray & Scarlett Johansen) and that was more of a friendship than romance.

I do agree though that Hollywood is controlled by rich old Jewish guys though. Only in their fantasy world could Seth Rogen play the Green Hornet. Still pissed about that ugly fatass playing a beloved comic book hero. smdh

See any movie with Liam Neeson, George Clooney (Ok, he's not 50 but getting there), Harrison Ford, Warren Beatty, Robert Redford, Sean Connery, etc, ad nauseum

There was this one movie with Richard Gere and Winona Ryder that had all the middle-aged women in an uproar. Forgot the name

And basically every other Woody Allen movie has an old Jew with a young hottie (last one that was like that was "Whatever Works")

Also co-sign about the Green Hornet. I hate Seth Rogen

I forgot about Richard Gere. But I do think he's more attractive now than he was in his American Gigolo days.

Paniro, it's Marvel Comics and less to do with Norse Mythos. Do you think Loki (shown here):

...look remotely Aryan or Nordic in any way, shape, or form? No! Marvel's version of Thor and Asgard can be interpreted anyway the creators feel like. And this is no different. A video game, TOO HUMAN, took Norse Mythology and mixed it with cyberpunk a theme. Good story too. In other words, Idris Ebla playing Heimdall is no different than Chris Hemsworth playing the role of Thor. Why? It's because they aren't Nordic nor of Scandinavian origin and it's a comic book franchise loosely based on Norse Mythos.

If it was a movie in which it speaks on Norse Mythology in it's purist form, then the directors would hire authentic Nordic/Scandinavian actresses and actors and keep the story and setting within that story line. THEN, your post would hold merit. However, this isn't the case. It's a Marvel franchise and loose Norse story mainly in characters and to some extent, setting.

Agreed, it strays quite far afield from traditional Norse mythology (and while I'm no expert in that, I'm familiar - I'm better with Celtic mythology).

NEVER mess with Loki. He's bad news.

Hahahaha, indeed. And I'm recollecting the story of Loki tricking Baldur to his death.
