I agree that all of Harrison's fines were way out of line. He is a clean football player who plays the game within the rules;he plays it with vicious abandon. He is not some "headhunter" trying to decapitate other players.

He is playing the game as it has been played since people strapped on leather helmets. On every single play, everyone on the field is going to hit or get hit. He wants to punish ballcarrie*rs or blow up blocks to help his team win the game.

There is not a team in the NFL that would not want a player like Harrison on their team(the Cowboys need a guy like this on their team). I'm very glad he plays on the Steelers since tough defense has been a part of the team's identity since its resurgence in the 1970's.

He might have chosen better words to express his displeasure. But he's a football player, not a diplomat.

Don't know if I agree with his stance on black QB's and white QB's though. I'm not sure if the league is necessarily more protecting of white QB's more than black QB's. I think that black QB's are tougher to officiate since they tend to be physically stronger and more mobile; so they probably think they are better equiped to take a hard hit.

Oh I didn't see what he said about B/W Qb's. I'll have to find out.

Having been up close live to watch 2 Black QB's in action, (Donovan and Mike) I can tell you they are not as protected by the refs, nor by the D. I think D's expect them to run their way out of trouble more so than a pocket passer.

I did witness the second concussion hit on Desean (the one that knocked him out), and I can tell you that he was blindsided when the play was pretty much over. Yes I know its a full contact sport, but hearing the impact and seeing him out cold was heartbreaking. But then again when Dawkins pummeled guys out flat in legal hits, it was enthralling. I guess I like legals hits. So then, for Harrison to be fined, they must have been dirty ones, no?

Hmm, you say so too, huh. I have just come to learn this. My friend in Dallas said: "This is sure to ruin Harrison's reputation as a level-headed deep thinker who is not on roids." :D

I agree with you on Donovan and Mike

I thought all of Harrison's hits were solid, hard and old school plays. The only hit that is debatable was his hit on Mohamed Massaquoi. But IMHO,there was nothing was dirty or malicious. Goodell had an axe-to-grind with Harrison because he voiced his displeasure with the rule changes in middle of the season. And openly stated that he wasn't going to change the way he has played his entire life.

I myself, thought the fines and the rule changes were an overreaction. Now if they felt that some hits were dirty, then they should have players who actually played the game look at film and make that determination.

The hit that Robinson laid on Jackson was cold-blooded, but Kolb was the genius who led Jackson straight into him.

By the way, I'm so sad you're an Eagles fan ;).

Yes, the rule changes on hits have "pansied it" a bit, I agree. They changed them few years back to favor receivers, and since the concussion issue came out, even more so. Its why the there are so many high scoring games in recent years.

In away though, I get why...Defenses have become increasingly larger than old school, and the hits by default more brutal. I know Desean's mum bought him a special helmet that the NFL wouldn't provide, and he was wearing it that day of the second hit, I think.
And yes Kolb did inadvertently set him up, but it was a beautiful throw, you cannot deny. :D

I like your idea about letting players determine instead of the Commish. But don't refs also decide?? not sure.

I truly thought you said "I'm so glad you're an Eagles fan, until I re-read it! :smt019

    Let me guess..Gnats fan?

He's a good player but, I don't like how he talked about his own teammates. The comments about the commish weren't smart either IMO.

and, Go Chiefs!!! by the way. I hope they get the labor situation settled soon!

James Harrison is such a fuckin dick, its not even funny any more. He came from a small school, went undrafted and shit and he plays hard and wit a chip on his shoulder. I respect that, but his mouth and overall attitude is just ridiculous, somebody need ta tell him keep his mouth shut.
