What reality of black people have I denied? Have I denied that black people undergo racism and prejudice? Nope. Have I denied that that some people will assume your just black even if you are biracial. Nope sure have not. Have I denied the fact that EVEN if someone sees you as biracial opposed to black that you would be treated with racism and prejudice? I absolutely have not. All I have done was say that being biracial is not the same as being black. Why is this such a heated topic with some? Why does it bother some folks that the experience is not always quite the same? Why does it bother some to acknowledged what is referred to as light skin is actually the phenotype of multiracial? This topic is real why not discuss it? If white women and black men are going to marry and have children this topic should be a huge discussion I would think. Check out what this lady has to say. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x1fA6xaAW4 [YOUTUBEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x1fA6xaAW4][/YOUTUBE]
President Obama's race is "African American" so to refer to him as anything other than that, to make yourself feel good......is silly. Its the same the foolish British woman who insisted the Halley Berry called her daughter "mixed race" I simply will never understand whites insistence in this regard. whites insisted [in the US and Europe) and proclaimed what was or was not a race, and her you are again telling us what we can ore can not call ourselves. Obama is an African-American man who has as White mother, and a Black father. That really should be long and short of it.
............................. Here's the video anyway, I can't embed it since it came from CNN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQACkg5i4AY Almost 66% of Americans participated in the election, about 1/3'rd of them didn't bother to vote at all. So we have to think about what that other 33% thinks about race relations?
At what point did I ever tell you what you can or could not call yourself? You can call your Indian for all care. You have the right to identify yourself that verbally aswell as written if you like. That doesn't mean I can't hold an opinion about you doing so, but just cause I might shake my head doesn't mean I would want to take that right away from you b/c I do not. Obamas race is black and white. Obamas ethnicity is American and his ancestral ethnicity is Kenyan and English. Obama chooses to identify as black only. It's that simple. I believe you are the person that has black/asian kids right? I just don't' get it if a person is not comfortable with biracialness why have children outside your race? The only woman that can birth you a black child is a black woman. So if what you want is a black child then why not procreate with a black woman?
When someone is biracial and 1 part of them is black they receive major negatively from African Americans if they do not follow the racist one drop rule. Check out what kind of responses a person gets that identifies as black and white. This is from the video I posted. No. you have clearly African features...that's why black people tell you that you look like a light skinned black person...plain and simple. chxsktr 1 week ago OK Girl listen this is America and you are BLACK. Get with the program. Half Does not matter. You look black you are Black, Grow Up! adorcely1 1 month ago She seems desperate to be liked by the white race. This is SUPER sad!! I feel really bad for this lose girl. My mother is white and my dad is black, I actually look like my mom very light. But I was taught about both race white and black and NEVER felt as if I had to choose a race. I guess not every parents teaching style is the same. I truly feel this girl is looking for acceptance. U may NEVER be accepted... Don't get your hopes up high, you will be reminded who U really are black! lovely6461 2 months ago who gives a shit if you are mixed! who isn't. it seems as though, that, some blacks of a little mixture want to be something else other than black african. these people are sick-minded, and they are very confused about who they are and what they want to become. not one of them ever talk about being human first before anything else. However, this is a result of self hate and white supremacy in america; this does not happen any where else in the world Someone made a comment in this post it was b/c whites will not identify you as mixed. However, how often do you hear those who are biracial say that white folk told them they are not mixed, they are black? In current society it's mostly AA's that hold onto the rule drop mentality. When advocates were fighting and still are fighting for the right to choose multiracial it was black advocates that were fighting them trying to keep them from that right.
Maybe people shouldn't identify their skin color unless explicitly asked. It would probably be better to identify the culture that best represents oneself.
I love these controversial topics. Ok Reginastar this is a test for you Can you spot the Bi racial man? All four of these guys is west african, however only one has a white parent. You are absolutely right, and i agree with you. If he looked like the late Adam Clayton Powell, i would definitely differ, but the reality Obama looks black eventhough he has a white mother. Lets compare Which one of these guys would fit in with the African guys i posted previously http://www.henrymakow.com/1944_00.jpg Adam Clayton Powell http://ecdn0.hark.com/images/000/000/009/9/original.jpg or Barak Obama
Obviously, you would assume that Powell would be an octoroon. But the truth is...he's actually African-American though he doesn't fit the typical physiological features.
I didn't even look at the looks. I never said you call tell TODAY who is biracial and who is not. B/C of the intermixing both in the US and in Africa you can't always tell. You have to look to history. That's like this book I'm currently reading. "The first African Americans" just today I read a part that talked about how this black woman was married to a black man and they had a son but then she started having an affair on him with a white man and it was obvious when she had her biracial son. She went on to bear him a couple more aswell. But the point is back then they could tell when the child was that of a white and black and when it was not. Today b/c of intermixing two dark skin African Americans CAN produce light skin children. Two white Africans have produce 2 children also whom appeared mixed. And again I realize Africans non mixed come in different tones but that tone doesn't include yellow. With our science your DNA tells up what racial group you belong too and if you have nothing but someones bones they can still identify you as biracial. Black alone can not make that. B/C of the separation of groups of people genetic mutations occurred and biracial people carry those from different racial groups.
The one drop rule was created 100 or so years ago to say that people of African ancestry were inferior. No one is inferior based on race. Were all human. Why do folks insist and continuing to follow such disgust as that? Since you all date white women this means you either already have biracial children or you could one day. Shouldn't you be comfortable with having children that both black and white opposed to having children that are only black? Do yall not realize there is a biracial movement going on. Don't get me wrong your kid could do as I'm sure some wish and only identify there self as black but what if they don't? Have you considered that? Are you prepared be ok with it if your tells you they do not identify as just a black man/woman but as also white? If they were to have children with a white person their children may have a white phenotype. Are you ready for that? Do you not take into account that the mother of your children have a culture that is most likely a bit different from your own and they will pass that culture on their children? In this day and age there lots of white women raising biracial children many times with no father around. We have to realize being raised by a white mother may be entirely different from being raised by a black mother as you did. From foods on your table, to celebrations, religion, accent, dress, family traditions, discipline, etc..
Actually, it does. Please read how certain Africans were describe during slavery in America. http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/2876/igbo.png Description of igbo slaves in the United States above http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1525/aa.1903.5.3.02a00080/pdf American Anthropologist description of the people in central Africa Another Anthropologist describing a eastern nigerian culture, and very descriptive of the people as well. http://books.google.com/books?id=sH...&resnum=5&ved=0CEAQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q&f=false What i am saying, it has alway existed even before blacks came here as slaves in the United States. As a matter of fact, some Africans that had fair skinn were sometimes confused as mulattoes. We have some interesting discussion from this website below. http://www.forumbiodiversity.com/showthread.php?t=2621
That point i agree with you on. We are all human, therefore why should we all put ourselves in these primitive boxes. Since we either got here by evolution or creation if you believe in the Biblical account. Therefore there is not a black race, white race, asian race, nor aboringal race, there is only one race, which is the human race. We are basically variation of our ancestors, to argue who is who and what is what is redundant
Where exactly is the DNA proof that none of the people have had any admixture? How do you even know these people they were talking about did not have white fathers either here in the US or in Africa or Arab fathers? Intermixing has been around much longer than the Atlantic slave trade even started and in the 1700's it was happening alot. I looked up pictures of the Igabo people. Their were none that was even yellow. Cooper is not yellow. Kishosan people are considered light skin in Africa, they are not light skin at all in the US. But it's more than skin color that makes a person. Features too. You can tell the skull of a person that is mixed opposed to monoracial. That tells you something. Multiracial individuals tend to have Combination hair. If you are mixed with white then you will carry a certain mutated gene that has much in part to do with what causes white people to have white skin. Unmixed African can not give you that gene.
What I believe is that we are all biologically related to each other. What race and ethnicity is to me is those among your ethnicity are the closest people to you in genetics. They are your closest relatives. They are also your closest culture. Those of your racial group or closer in genetics, recent ancestry, and culture than those outside. Exception being due to migration you could share culture with someone outside of your race and ethic group.
