You're not making a lot of sense here. Let alone you come off as being contradictory. You claim to hold moderate positions and yet I reaffirm that's merely a political ideology that's more akin to pandering than finding practical solutions. In other words, you're talking out your ass. That bit we had with intelligent design vs. evolution and you said that both should be taught? There's no moderate position in that at all. There's no win-win since someone won't be satisfied with the results. I'll explain that in further detail if you want a little lesson.

Another thing is that no one is disputing that you're not self-sufficient. I think everyone here, regardless of where they identify themselves on the political spectrum are self-sufficient and have been since day one, myself included. We're all capable to take care of ourselves without government assistance. However, some of us also acknowledge that there are people who can't and we're not talking the lazy, able-bodied individuals who only collect unemployment. I'm referring to those who suffer from incurable diseases and cannot afford such luxuries because they are truly disabled. There's some good in government assistance in that respect and there are other examples which can help them.

Ultimately, it's the individual that can rise up and make something of themselves. But, it's only a theoretical understanding for those individuals.

And for the record, I'm not a bleeding heart liberal either. This topic as well my individual post will give you some background. But if you're too lazy to click, here's a summation: I'm liberal, conservative, libertarian, fascist, socialist, and authoritarian on some issues.

 

Based on that very conversation, you do need a lesson on the difference between science and philosophy.
