THE CHALLENGE

Actually the funny thing is, we are graded by our students. When I launch into some young Spec-4 I always expect to be murdered on the end of class critique...

...and I never do. Ever...its puzzling. (real talk)

I was once called "racist" but that made me laugh more than anything else.

Hey I don't go off on everyone, in fact its rare. But I do speak my mind.........

 

Most often I find "diplomatic" leaders are officers or Senior NCO who have never lead Soldiers. I'm not in the least diplomatic. Whether it was my former Infantry Role or as my Role as an instructor. I care more about training a warrior to do his mission more than I care about bruising an ego.

Our jobs are to locate, close with, and destroy the enemies of American in Close combat. That is our creed as American Soldiers. My job is to train Soldiers to ensure that we can accomplish that mission. Whether as a war fighter, a truck driver, a finance soldier, or a Human Resources NCO.

the fact of the matter is that we are Leaders have gotten away from this. Gotten to the point were we coddle Soldiers, and when they screw up and get someone killed, or cause a family extra pain because paper work was not done corrected for the family's fallen warrior, we blame the Soldier...

...instead of the leader.

I never said it would be some definite change, but it still is significant. He still does seep through, though. (but that's not to say he isn't being provoked)

 

i don't think 7 days is significant...

 

He made the announcement. He must have wanted people to up the challenge or he would have kept quiet. When people poke the bear well.....

I do wonder why his coworkers feel he needs to be challenged to be nice. Maybe they just wanted 7 good days.

I think it wierded out a lot of people. People kept asking me. "Are you ok... is the family ok"...."something on your mind" And my homeboy that put me up to the challenge kept following me around work doings hit that would normally make me launch into someone.

For example. He goes (to a new person) Hey look at SFC Ymra's children" new person says "Are your children MIXED" Which I fucking hate being asked...but I say "their mother is Japanese" his reply....

"Oh I have a Chinese neighbor".......which I fuckig hate even more. SO...AND? I did curse less which was good....and the onlyting I did was replace my acidicness with sarcasm. And I actually think sarcasm is a bigger insult than just saying YOU DUMB ASS.

Then I got into a small debate at the hotel with a guy and he says "You are a Soldier you are supposed too............" whit also make me want to STOMP THE FUCK out of people. So to be honest it was sort of difficult.

 

I like being me much better than not.
