According to the Mail Online in the UK, raunchy music videos by the likes of Rihanna and Christina Aguilera will be banned from being shown on British TV before 9 PM under plans to be unveiled next week. Adverts that use sex to sell will also be banned from sites near schools. Pop videos in which pop stars flaunt their sexuality are also to be given cinema-style age certificates. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1393778/Rihanna-Christina-Aguilera-videos-banned-9pm.html
Yeah...but how far would the UK go to make you renounce your British citizenship? The BNP taking over Parliament and creating laws banning interracial marriages or not recognize them, alongside same-sex marriages?
Hahaha, sounds like a contradiction. People are going batshit over multiculturalism everywhere. I guess finding scapegoats are what people are good at for their own broken system.
I agree. Sorry but Rihanna's 'Rudeboy' and 'S&M' are not appropriate for during the day. Yes, parents should monitor what they watch but it's not always possible. Parents think music channels are 'safe'. If I hear another 9 year old singing 'Come on rudeboy boy can you get it up, come on rudeboy boy is you big enough, take it take it...' or whatever it goes like I swear I'm gonna snap. It's fine for adults but really it's not what should be shown during the day. I'm fed up of the sexualisation of children. Kids emulate what their role models do and the shit that is shown on TV during the day on MTV is wrong. The lyrics, the dancing (they're basically fucking the air), the way they dress... it's just wrong. I have no problem with it later at night but during the day it's bad.
LOL nothing, just for holiday, see family etc, and have proper junk food lol, plus bf comming aswell, so even better
Lol who ever said it was? But my point is what they can't find on TV, they'll surely find on youtube or some other network. With all the challenges Britain faces, their politicians are apparently worried about little Jimmy watching Rihanna grind her crotch on TV. Well, they can't be any worse than our shitheads over here.:smt096
They could rig the ISP's of those users as well. It could say "You aren't authorized to view this video because you are in the United Kingdom." I think YouTube does have censorship by country. The law in the UK would just have to contact YouTube about what they're doing. They may force YouTube to do what they want against the UK users.
Hahaha, well that is true. And if they can't find it on YouTube, then there will be other websites for consideration too.
Sorry but that's like saying 'Well, if kids can find porn online why not just show it during the day? Or they can watch Cannibal Holocaust online so let's put that on during the day too!' Errrr.... no. I'm not big on censorship but this about children's innocence. I see too many little girls trying to grow up too fast and I was one of them. The other day I saw a padded bra for an 8 year old... what the fuck is wrong with the world?
The fact is that you can't shield children from such things today unless you literally remove all forms of entertainment and restrict them on everything and keep and eye on them. Even if you do that, they'll still find a way. Sheltering them would be more harmful in the long run than actually educating them on such subject matters. That's the issue with parents and peers alike. They can't seem to grasp how modern technology allows everything to be in reach.
It's hard being a parent. I have all this to deal with. Before I had Jacob I would have been against a ban like this but now I'm a mother the protecting part of me does want to shield him. It's hard. He's only 4 right now so I have time to decide what he will and will not be exposed to. I just think that children's psyches are very delicate and their minds are very malleable to what they experience and those experiences stay with them forever and shape who they are. It's not about babying him. When he is a certain age I will give him freedom but I just don't think that highly sexualised videos and lyrics need to be on TV during the day. If children see it on TV they're more likely to listen to it as oppose to just looking it up on Youtube. I don't know... I'm rambling. All I know is the mummy in me thinks it's very wrong.
