I don't understand relationships. Maybe my lack of understanding is in part due to me having Asperger's Syndrome. Anyway, I was wondering if someone could explain to me what the pros and cons of a relationship are, and why relationships are sought out.
I have 2 sons on the autism spectrum, the youngest was diagnosed with asperger's. Have you read any of the books written by Dr. Tony Atwood? Dr. Atwood is a psychologist from Australia & considered to be an expert all over the world. Relationships are very challenging for, folks who have asperger's (or aspies). Many who have asperger's tend to struggle with all relationships not just romantic ones. I wonder what your age might be and where you're located and types of social skills groups might be available in your area.
His profile says he's 23, doesn't show a location. Anyhoo, as for the OP my opinion is that there's no single answer to your question. Pros and cons depend on the 2 in the relationship and what they make of the relationship and the reasons for seeking a relationship could be as wide, varied, and individual as there are individual people in the world.
wow, thanks for the education. I can imagine it being tuff for someone who has that. Its tuff for people without it. I hope they will find a relationship that will fit them. Im sure they will.
You seem like a very kind woman Mrs. Jenny. I never heard of doctor Atwood, but I did check out his website. Thanks for the info. @Goodlove: I believe it is Asperger's that made relationships difficult for me. There some things I just didn't understand as a kid. I'm getting better though. Can you all explain intimacy and romance to me?
Supposedly Bill Gates has Asperger, he is successful family wise, innovation, money, charity, etc....
