Still Dangers Out There If You Date or Marry a White Female

Discussion in 'Conversations Between White Women and Black Men' started by Blacktiger2005, Oct 10, 2007.

  1. America is a strange land full of contradictions and hypocrisy. How things are in one part of the country isn't necessarily how it is in another part of the country. I grew up in the northeast most of my life and always though the south was a racist, backwater place. Imagine my shock on my first trip to North Carolina and seeing so many interracial couples. More than any i've ever seen here and i live in NYC! It brought me to the conclusion that the south isn't any more or less racist than the north. In the north the lines are more invisible and there is alot of hypocrisy up here. New York may be a melting pot city but most native people still live in neighborhoods comprised entirely of their ethnicity. In the south on the other hand, poor blacks and poor whites live side by side with each other. Often attending the same churches and functions. AT least if anyone is racist down there, you'd know and dodge those people. In the north, people smile in your face and talk shit behind your back. And this is supposed to bastion of "liberalism". Right.

Then, you have some parts of the country where it's like racism doesn't exist because they don't really have anyone to be racist against. Much like my recent trip to Denver, CO. (I'll be moving there in Sept) There aren't eally that much black people in denver so it's a way different vibe than the north of south. I was shocked at how friendly people we're. Did i get stares when i entered a restaurant or shop, yeah. Of course. I was probably the first black guy some of them have ever met. But they always said hi and we're friendly. It reminded me very much of my time in Europe. Spokane, Washington was very much the same way too. It's like they wouldn't know how to be racist if they tried! lol I think i'd much rather live in that part of the country than the north or south.

So yeah, thats the USA in a nutshell. Full of contradictions and inconsistencies.

reminds me of the time I went down to the Carolinas to visit some fam. Everyone in the house we were at was black (no shit). Around dinner time, we all gathered around a big table (mothafucka seats a squad of 12) and a white guy that looked like Bubba Sparxxx came into the place and sat down with us. I was like 'wtf,' because up north we NEVER had a white guy eat dinner with us, like he was one of the family. The way he came in and their reaction was so casual and smooth, as if they didn't have the racial friction we have in Philly.

I was shocked that the South was gettin it in like that. I guess it's because down there, a racist mothafucka will let you know he cant stand negroes. Takes all the guesswork out when a legit white guy is cool with you. If he didn't like blacks, you would have known by now

  5. Word. Thanks guys. Thats just how i see shit in this country. Just when i think something is a hard and fast rule something comes out of nowhere and challenges my expectations. The biggest surprise i still notice is how many southern women date interracially. Here in New York, to get a ine looking white woman you have to be a business professional because new york girls who think they're Carrie from Sex And The City are all about keeping up appearances. However, it's the same for most guys out here. Down South and out in Denver i see more average joe brothas with good looking white women on their arm. The big cities in my opinion seem to be tougher for interracial dating in my opinion. You deal with less flak yes but you are required to bring more to the table. Not, thats there's anything wrong with that, women should have standards too just realistic ones.

I have had multiple southerners (who did not know each other) tell me that the South is more integrated than the Northeast.

Yeah, there seems to be a wide variance here in America with this. Also Estorik, do you remember about the Harvard thing that happened with the professor in 2009, in Massachussetts? The professor was unable to get into his house because he got the wrong key and the cops thought he was trying to commit a robbery. This article goes more in depth into it. California also had a lynch burning and an e-mail from a politician there of Obama's face being photoshopped into a chimpanzee.

Phoenix, I think that makes sense to say. However, I'd like to know more about how states such as South Carolina and Georgia are doing. I think that Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida are environments that are much more tolerant for us, with regards to race.

I'm still not sure about the Appalachian South and the Deep South. The other part of the south is what I think you're referring to.

  9. Of course i remember ol' Skip Gates. The whole incident itself didn't surprise me because for all it's talk of being a center of higher learning and liberalism, Boston, Mass and it's surrounding areas is probably the most racist city i've ever been too. Now Bostonites will get blue in the face arguing that they're not but the proof is in the pudding. That city is heavily segregated, maybe even more so than Chicago or Philly and most of the Irish there are not too fond of black people in Southie and those neighborhoods. I had actually gotten accepted to Boston College but my folks wouldn't let me go. I opted to stay in New York and go to Fordham instead. And after watching that Gates thing, i'm glad i did.

Damn kid you're singing my song. As a fellow New Yorker I definitely feel you unless you're gunning for hippy chicks in the village or college chicks(strictly undergrad, grad students are on that Carrie shit too) you gotta be in finance, medicine(strictly doctors preferably surgeons), or engineering. They don't even give lawyers burn like they use to unless it's a well known law firm. Can't hate their hustle unfortunately most of them don't realize every chick is going after the same 20 guys and are devistated when they find out they're one of five side pieces when the dude marries who he really loves.

    LOL, cosign on that.

People can think whatever they may, I leave that up to them. I can't control the thoughts of another person.

I'm going to live my life. Its when you are concerned about appearances, perceptions or lack confidence that you let the views of others affect your life.

I can't even deal with any white woman that is flaky and doesn't know what she really wants in her man. She better be confident, self assured and thick skinned.

I mention this because depending on one's background they may be mindful of every little thing,

OMG are they looking at us
What will my parents and family think
    What will my friends think
How will I be perceived by others in my community, etc.

Like I said I see no danger in dating any white woman if she likes me and is not about games.

Its when people are hesitant that you have to wonder. We live in a varied world, not everyone will like you, no matter what.

The notion of can't live your life to please others is poignant and direct in meaning.
