There is, you're just too ignorant to notice it.

His characters are bigoted criminals who are typically white and live in the suburbs. There's nothing taboo about them being racist.

It's the same as The Godfather or The Departed. How realistic would The Soprano's be if Tony Soprano wasn't racist?

His artistic merit is staying true to what's realist and not giving a fuck what people think. Where most people would edit things out to look pretty.

I love how you say "that is their issue" as if the people who like him have a problem. Last I recalled, you're the one getting worked up over this.

I remember the heat that Oprah got when she referred to her black female friend as a negress during her show. When people reacted with gasps she went on to explain that negress was a word for a black woman, and that coming from an enlightened black public figure.

Not in support or criticism, I do recognize that his use of language might be a reason for racists and others to celebrate his films. However, he seems to thumb his nose at that notion, or perhaps balance that perception by using imagery of interracial relations, playing himself married to a black nurse, Ving Rhame's character being married to a white lady in Pulp Fiction, Samuel Jackson's character and his "white surfer girl" in Jackie Brown, the sexual tension between Jackie Brown and the white bail bondsman, the relationship between the white lady theater owner and her black employee/lover in Inglourius Bastards. He also revitalized the career of Pam Grier and has provided more exposure for Samuel Jackson, Vivica Fox, and used several other black actors in his movies.

He often pays homage to his love for Black music by using it liberally in his soundtracks and he's spoken often about his enjoyment and fondness of the Black movies of the 70's. I do know that Black films of that era featured uncomfortable sexual images, black women being raped by white men and very liberal use of the n-word. Just saying...maybe that's the connection, I really don't know.

For the record...what Black people call one another has nothing to do with a shit-eating wop like Tarentino.

They call one another grease-balls and guinea all the time....but you best believe a Black person better not call them that.

Jews call New York Hymie town themselves....but look how they STILL beat on Jesse Jackson for using that term 30 years ago.

This ain't got shit to do with hypocrisy.

Obviously - and this appears to be your problem - you can not differentiate between the movies and real life. (<--this is the same problem some BW have with Black actors who marry white women btw)

All the examples you gave reflect real-life exchanges, not movies exchanges.

In the movies, Blacks do call Italians wops and guineas (think New Jack City) to their face, crackers, spics etc...and Jews use Kike, n-word etc...Hispanics uses gringo, n-word, Jews, etc..all quite liberally.

Having said that, if we are to engage you in your confused assertion that Art IS real life (particularly Art as wild as Quentin's imagination), doesn't Tarrantino's characters - both Black and White - then merely reflect a segment of the population that might use the N-word in real life? Hit-men, drug dealers, Cleaners, criminals, etc.

By the same token, the fact that Director Fuqua wrote his characters to angrily say the N-word as often as they did, is he also reflecting that Black men use the n-word this freely to each other in real life, particularly since you said above this is "what Black people call one another"? Obviously, you use the word a lot (we know for a fact you type it in insult on this board)
There are many Black men who don't use it btw, so might they not be offended by Fuqua's use, even though you're giving him a pass because some Black men call each other that?

And are you mad at Tarrantino for only his White characters using it, and give his Black characters a pass? Where does the "racist" distinction with him lie with you?

You just don't get it and you never will.

Damn near every gangster movie directed by an Italian takes a swipe at Black people in some fashion.

New Jack City ain't got shit on them when it comes to being insulting and racist as hell.

Ah, the "you never will get it" deflection. Very original.

Just so we're clear, its now just not Quentin Tarrantino, but nearly all gangster movies directed by Italians, right? (Not ones directed by other nationalities either, right?)

And they always take swipes at Blacks but are nice to women, Hispanics, and other Whites.
Next time, I'll be sure to look for the gangsters to play nicey period in the films.

ps: I would hate to see what you think of Brian De Palma. [IMG]

Yep, Tarantino is racist alright. Oh wait, one of his best friends is Rza from the Wu Tang Clan. Yep, definitely a big time racist.

So according to you a black dude can't even like QT? Or like Obama?

See this is the kind of shit that makes this black thing so damn exhausting. Can't even just like shit like other people. Gotta have some racial/political bullshit behind it.

So tell me, who's cool to like?

I like Tarantino and I like Obama. Does that make me a fucking coon? So what makes you not a coon? Liking anything before 1980?

    I mean goddamn.

Offensive images of black people??? What? You do realize that Samuel L Jackson's performance in Pulp Fiction (as Jules Winnfield) is heralded as one of the most badass mofos of all time right?

I dont get how QT puts blacks in a negative light. Granted, he does use the n word a lot but thats supposed to be in the context of the film

Even so....they hate on us more than those groups combined.

Italian directors are brutal against Black people...for The Godfather to Goodfellas and beyond...they shit on us like crazy.
