MBA's are a must depending on the field. bachelors are almost archaic.

dumb ass 1) The U.S. is ranked at 14th in reading, 17th in science and 25th in math out of 34 countries that participated in the PISA exam (This is an exam that is given to all the industrialized countries. the test is given to 15 year olds.) from the 2009 results. what the fuck are you talking about. ive been researching MBAs for some time now myself. If I recall correctly, Drexel's online MBA program places you in a 'class' and tries to keep everyone together throughout their semesters. They referred to this as some sort of 'cohort' method to build networks and strong interpersonal relationships. Makes sense when you think about it, and gives you a sense that there is more to online learning than meets the eye.:smt023

 

That only works if your cohort is worthwhile.

Many times you'll end up with people who aren't worth a damn. I'd rather do it all on my own.

the entry requirements are pretty tight, and it's a good school. I doubt if I would land into a grad program with a bunch of slackers there. Drexel isn't Penn, but it's not 'No-name' U with no entry requirements either.

My dumb ass didn't go to college and I'm currently contemplating an offer for a 6 figure position in Pasadena where I'd be reporting directly to the CIO.

I have fortunately come to the realization some time ago that the association between success and salary does not apply to me. I don't buy into the belief that I am identified by in the things that I own, or that my life will be enhanced by owning more shit.

Our society has been thoroughly brainwashed in consumerism which tells us that our happiness and self-identification is in the shit we 'own', to acquire this we need more and more money which means we need a better job which means we need a better education. All of these so-called needs, it's no wonder we're so stressed.

Anyways, whatever..... I'm going to go find a tree to hug. :rock:

 

Interesting pov but unfortunately I think being black in America often times leaves one with the impression you have to always prove yourself to justify your existence. It may also be easy for one to say why would you let the otside world have so much influence over you but its difficult for it not to when if affects where you can live and the lifestyle you have. Shit it even affects who may love you or not. I'm looking forward to this summer. A lot of traveling ahead.

 

Agreed, but I don't think it's just a black thing. We do have a habit of glorifying our material possessions where others do not. About every culture identifies themselves with worthless possessions. A white man in a fancy car is no different than a black man in a fancy car in that respect (well, maybe they still have factory rims).

As far as money affecting where you live and the lifestyle that you can have, it's all up to the person. A person can have what others would perceive as a nice life and still feel that they need more shit. With regard to love, if someone loves you for what you have it's not you that they love in the first place.

many people are PROUD of their accomplishments and PROUDLY list them. But like you said, an employer might think they'll demand more or will simply leave and get another job when a better opportunity presents itself.

 

yeah I have read articles of people doing that. It is a catch 22. you could be in your 40's and they are looking at you and your resume and may say slacker. LOL

on the other hand you could get a new degree/trade and start over in a hot field. it could be done and help out.

My opinion is that you should really go to college, ignore the spin that they're trying to put on this.

When our nation's deficits are reduced and the deficit becomes a surplus, perhaps college tuition could decrease. If college tuition costs were lower, this movie wouldn't have even been made. That is the premise the entire movie is arguing on.
