Doesn't matter, it's irrelevant. You have forgotten what kind of society we are in and what it represents.

Hold on, give me a few minutes.

Don't call me "woman" - fuck YOU, Bitch.

Nobody has taken ANY of the thoughtful things I have said about BM/WW relations to heart in this forum, and I really think it is to my disadvantage to associate with you all. All I hear is negative things from the likes of Nico, pettyofficer what's his name, Ymra, whoever...

According to you all I'm ALWAYS wrong, so fuck you all. I can't stand seeing people treating our president as a puppet for their jive talk. A lot of chicks on here don't really know what it's all about - they give you lip service, but they are just kissing your ass. I don't do that.

I'm not here for points, or for booty, or any of that crap - I was trying to find out a little more about myself as related to the race struggle, but it turns out I'm doing better on my own. The people on here for the most part just nauseate me.

I'll read over what you've wrote and I'll contribute and make some replies to your posts. At times I can't really keep up with every new post that's on here. Don't worry about others you can't get along with, not all of us are like that. I can get along with you.

To answer your question relating to why a word like nigger/nigga hold so much weight and burn your ears, it's mainly because you "allow" it. It's merely a word and only a word which doesn't register so well into your auditory senses, as do most of us because, in conjunction with our knowledge of the history of the word and how it's deeply rooted, we simply "can't" help it. The same way with bitch, cunt, fuck, pussy, and even word that aren't even associated with body parts or demeaning terms. They're merely words and only you can give those words such power.

It's hard to eliminate that since it's still prevalent to this day and decades ahead of us, but we can only educate, but don't let it corrode our progress. It's true that our reactions when white people uses it, it's much worse. BUT, we can't simply eliminate it even if no one else don't use it. We just simply cannot allow it to drive it hard into our minds, despite its prevalence.

Ah, you're referring to this thread here. I've read through the whole thing and while I can definitely see your perspective on things, the truth of the matter is that the original poster was in the right in this matter. I work with a former Air Force official before he retired and I asked him something similar to it. I won't go into details on this thread as to why, but all I can say relating to it is that Ymra wasn't wrong in what he did. The military is strict and by that, when you don the uniform, you have to act and portray yourself with utmost character. Even off duty, you're representing the military.

Ymra can be VERY arrogant, but he's not foolish to overreach his authority or boundaries despite what we all may think or believe. He and I had a few spats before on here and over time, I think we've all come to the realization that we're both cool people towards each other.

As for you, I have no qualms nor problems with you. In fact, I take a STRONG liking to you because you're a difference face and personality and contributes well with the forums. I don't want you to leave here. Rather, stay around and get to know us all a bit better. You said you want to find out more of yourself relating to interracial relationships? Stick around and get to know us and you'll find it that we're all quite eclectic.

    Respect,

.....but I disagree with the idea that "you give it power" the word already have power. The word already has power and simply put, words themselves are power. We simply (I believe) can't pretend that "If we just ignore it will go away", or that if we try to change its meaning to something mundane...that its meaning will change...in fact, that is part of our problem.

Its more than a word, its also a representation of vile, evil, and disgust and each time we use it as some faux term of endearment we continue to perpetuate the emotion and REALITY it conjures.

MAN! I really have to get off my ass and get this radio show idea moving. Our contrasting personality and views would make it fucking amazing. I mean that!

No imp I don't put words in anyone's mouth and only reply to what people say. What you wrote above is not what you wrote in your reply where you used the word nigga/nigger. You tried to suggest that I used the word nigga/nigger and anyone on this site who pays attention know that of all the shit I say...

..THAT is not a word that I use. In your zeal in trying to prove how intelligent you are, you fucking failed. And you continue to fail. I was asked RESPECTFULLY to leave you alone or at the very least to respond to you a bit more smoothly than I have. But I'm going to need you to stop pretending you are my equal...

...you aren't. And the sad reality is that both you and I know it.

You can be offended, you can support Obama...I dig it,...but you need to know this one thing. We don't need to be saved by you...

You are NOT the black champion, stop pretending to be.

A word has power based on what exactly? History? If that was the case, then reaction of that of that word would be uniformed across ALL African-Americans and not merely the majority. There are people out there who simply brush off the word, not to ignore the reality behind it. Instead, simply see it as just a word and be on their merry way because by allowing it to drive you senseless, you're only making yourself feel weaker.

To brush it off is not ignoring it either. Words cannot be erased or avoided regardless of the age. But, we can control our reaction to the whole matter. It may seem like fluffy talk to people on here, but ask yourself this: "Has nigger really detracted you from your goals?"

Not is not correct, to suggest that if the word did indeed have power..the power of history, that all black would have the same reaction. MOST blacks have no concept of who we are and where we come from.

I feel this is one topic where we will simply never agree. I will continue to tolerate it from us....and loath it from other's

The fact is that none of us really have an understanding of experiencing racism and the word being a strong mechanism, unless we came from the 1800s until 1978 as adults. However, we are an evolved generation and even though much of history is carried into the present and perhaps future, the fact of the matter is that it'll slowly loses it position in the human psyche. But only if blacks, the majority, can escape from that defeatist thought process and turn that into a strength to prove society wrong.

There are far greater measures, opportunities, and freedom we now have and we have to shape this future to our liking. This is what truly matters now. Let not a word throw you down or hinder you. Rather, stay the course and fight this unrestrained struggle.

(I say 1978 because Louisiana was the LAST state at that time to desegregate their schools and businesses and still had some issues)

I agree with everything your wrote, with the exception of your frist sentence. Racism in general and "igga" specufically did not end in the 70's. Before I question your sanity, you are going to have to qualify that statemtn. You make the same mistakes that white make as if since you see blacks in TV commericals all of sudden there is no racism, and america is all equal.

    ...seriously?

    Racism ended in the 70s????

when blacks make the same pay for the same job
    same standard of health care
accepted to colleges (when grades and scores are equal)
when blacks are given home loans as the same rates
    when blacks are protected
when blacks are hired a the same rate

on and on and on and on, when that happens, then someone can talk to me about racism ending in 1978.

    Lol

would be nice to know what it feels like to be on the other end of racism tho.

Being able to live a full life without second guessing white people, or worrying that they might sabotage u or hold u back because of ur skin

but hey I guess god put us here like this for a reason....no 'easy mode' for me or you

    To clarify...

I never made the implication that racism ended at all. I meant that the period in which racism, in it's most severe forms, have ended in the late 1970s and now we're in a "cloud period" in which racism still continues, but the effects of them are nowhere near as bad as what our forefathers and foremothers had to endure.

I point out the late 1907s because if you read my post thoroughly, you would've read where I had:

Not once did I imply that racism has ended. It WON'T end. Even if we all just suddenly look the same in fifty years, there will be a new social construct based on skin tone and thus racism will continue to act on that in their entirety.

either way your statements are suspect...just take an L on this one. I've been called nigger from 1989 til 95 on a daily basis, along with threats of physical violence because i was black in a white area.

Oh yeah..one last thing...one of my mom's bfs was assaulted by a gang of white guys a few blocks from where I lived. She warned him not to walk around the area at night, but being the Army man that he was, he figured he could go anywhere and handle any problem that came up. He came back to our place battered and bloodied, as the result of a racial beating.

    early 1990s
