I kinda know all of the above, but it would be cool if you can elaborate on the book of mormon and their view on blks as of 2011 not pre 1980 which we already know.
Like any religious organization, they tend to "evolve" with the times. In other words, they've grown more inclusive and more diversified in their environment. Yes, the majority of Mormons are white, but the younger generation tend to be more open about it. This past year, a black female Mormon was elected Mayor in a small town of Utah and people like her a lot. But regarding the book of Mormon, there are various texts that are contrary to the attitudes of the modern Mormon. And here is a text of theirs...
There are many black mormon athletes, and other's to be recognized throughout history: LeRoy Eldridge Cleaver, the Minister of Information in the early Black Panther Party, and the author of the international bestseller Soul on Ice (1968)--once considered the "Manifesto" of Black Nationalists and even white Radicals. Late '60s and early '70s R&B singer Gladys Knight became a Mormon in 1998 after her son Jimmy and his family did. Gladys Knight was the singer in the R&B group Gladys Knight and the Pips. Today (2001 A.D.) she writes and performs Mormon Gospel music. I personally don't understand how there is freedom of religion in this country, however, Mormons are persecuted for their beliefs, particularly the sect of Mormons that feel it necessary to follow the everlasting covenant of plural marriage. Though illegal, it shouldn't be under the true rules set forth in the Constitution of the United States. It is more seen as fundamentally wrong mostly within the groups of society who feel monogamy is a true sign of a higher species and the way a higher society should move forth. Personally I don't fully support polygamy but I don't choose to vilafy those that do either. Do you????
Nope, I gots no problem with it sir, as long as it's between consenting adults & they are able to financially support each other. I personally dont care who is got seven or ten wives, I just wanna find a decent one who will be able tolerate all my flaws, help me pass my gene to next gen & can grow old with. So yeah, I got no problem with polygamy.
I don't have a problem with polygamy as long as women can indulge too. It seems to me that religions that allow polygamy only allow males to practice it.
FLDS are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. FLDS are a break off that practices plural marriage and teaches the so-called Cain Doctrine. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints outlawed plural marriage in 1898. Btw, when Mormons first practiced plural marriage it was not illegal and the reason why they did it was because all of the patriarchs of the Old Testament did it. The Church claims to be a restoration of God's church so essentially it followed some of the early practices of Jews and Christians some of the thinking was in line with the Essenes or Dead Sea Scrolls culture such as Temple worship while accepting Christ as Savior which seems odd to other Christians.
FLDS have a racial separatist philosophy. Polygamy is only for 'chosen' white men. The wives must be white and virgins as well (the younger the better) that is why their leader is in prison; child abuse, sex with a minor and soliciting basically a marriage pimp for pre-teens.

I have friends who are White Mormons and they voted for Obama and like Hip-Hop. Some of the single women date Black Men often, some prefer BM, some date us more casually and I am sure some would not date us at all just like the rest of White America. Most do not believe in the Cain doctrine. It is not a cornerstone belief, you are not likely to hear it taught or eluded to most wish it was never a part of the teachings in the early days. The problem with Mormons is that everything is recorded and kept including the follies and mistakes. Last year The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints went into some great detail the involvement of a few members in a massacre in the 1800s that most Churches would hide. The Cain doctrine was believed by virtually all white Christians in the 1800s, even those that were opposed to slavery, Pres. Lincoln probably believed it. The Mormons did not create the racist belief, they copied it from other Christians. Joseph Smith refused to canonize the racist teaching, it was done after he was dead.
That is a crazy statement bruh. I know the world is racist and all especially AmeriKKKa and her like but not all white ppl are racist. There were tons of white folks who marched during civil rights with blks and have been gased, whipped and jailed. The freedom riders group had several white folks who got on the bus despite knowing they were going to endanger their lives. I have certainly met good white ppl in my short life time here in the states or traveling abroad, their number might be very very small but they still out there. I have also seen white nuns and missionary workers in Africa sacrificing their lives trying to educate and help poor African kids in villages, so it won't be fair to them to label every one of them as a racist. But your satement about religion is right, yes the catholics had their hand in slave trade, so is the jews, the muslims, etc.....
i met it as a bit of tongue in cheek, but i will admitt on the internet, it's hard to get intent, so if was the fault of myself to not get it across better. but that being said, the rest of what you said is on point. the only part i disagree with is the nuns/missionaries. it reminds of the old saying," when the europeons came, they had the bible we had the land. when they left, we had the bible, they had the land.
