I just hate to hear people say..."I cant make it in college that junk is too hard or Im not smart enough for it. "

I hate to hear people say that because they are degrading themselves and beating themselves down. they lost before you even started. they dont know college/trade school is not THAT hard. it is but not enough to make you not go and try.

no one talks about trade schools, but seriously you can make good money in a short amount of time to support yourself. Like I said before, Surgical Technology is a trade that yields upwards of 42k starting, if you get a job at a good hospital. Compare that to working at Wendys or some other bullshit job, because you didn't want to go to school, or wanted to make rap music:smt043

you still have to study at a good trade school...just like you have to study and do work in college. If you just put in the effort to learn the shit wherever you are, you shouldn't have a problem graduating with a C at least. Employers won't know you got a C...they'll just know you have a degree, so WTF people go to school:smt023

exactly, I hate to hear people say "I cant I cant" without trying. We arent talking about like playing pro sports or something. we have to be in reason. I know Im not smart enough to be a rocket scientist (I can try) but its not stopping from going to school and making a decent living.

we can be our own worst enemy. we always want to blame the white man for some shit.

I wish I had started out at trade school (at least looking at what they had to offer. I feel stupid for not investigating it) or a junior college.

i think people look down on trade schools honestly, because they're not as talked about or vaunted as colleges. Tuition prices at a trade school here can go from 8-15k depending on area of study, but after a year you'll graduate and will be able to support yourself. This is a perfect situation for someone that does not have the time or resources, to commit to college for 4 years. You can do the college afterwards, if you got the mental toughness to do the work/school thing.

exactly, I could not have said it any better.

people need to get small successes and failures to get their confidence up and you will be able handle big successes and failures.

in order to be successful, people have to learn from their failures and their successes.

hell blacks dont like to get a damn education because they want to depend on the church. they go and pray thinking money gonna fall from the sky.

Darling MF, I graduated in 2004. That was 7 years ago now. :) But still, there are jobs to be found if you're creative.

DB have you seen how bad it is out there right now? Lame bachelor degrees in liberal arts won't get you anywhere these days. Hey I gotta shitty Poli Sci degree so I know baby cakes. Thank God for accounting. If all else fails I can handle someone's money for a living

That's why my job is paying for every penny that my school is asking, even if the bill is as high as $15k per quarter. :smt025

4 years for a BS in nursing, compared to BA in English..

id take the nursing. Experienced RNs around philly have been known to make 40/hr at Temple Hospital and others. If you plan on going further with the BA in English, into Masters/PhD status, then maybe you'll get more money than one of these Philly teachers.

many people don't think about that when going for a job. Tuition Assistance should be a HUGE factor when applying. My place covers us for 8500/year and encourages everyone to take advantage of it. It's like free money :p
