Anyone here is aware that the Internet 2 network is expected to upgrade to a speed of 8.7 terabits per second. Just one terabit per second is 1,000 gigabits per second or one million megabits per second. Most people are comfortable with the daily 1.5 megabits currently pumped into their homes on the standard Internet that we all use. Internet 2 is mainly an advanced research network for universities, companies, and classified governmental agencies. Wonder when we can be blessed with such warp speed. I hear what is pushing this requirement is the Large Hadron Collider which just recently identified the God particle and the development of Exascale Hypercomputers. Never get this kind of information in the mainstrean media.
and the isp's will over charge us like they do now. Unbelievable how it is 20 bucks for speeds up to 1.5mbps over here and like 10 dollars in europe.
Bro, like the gasoline situation, we are being screwed and it will not be any different with the ISP carriers. They will continue to control cost/price gouging for service regardless of internet speed although it will get worse. It should be greater speeds at less cost due to the quality of that service. I'm not sure unless strict regulatory rules apply to them through the FCC.
It depends on where you live. In Spain it was much more expensive than here, and service is not as dependable.
