A robbery attempt I faced today

First of all I'd like to say that I'm glad you've made it out of that situation alive and with little injuries only.Of course a busted lip is no fun but it could have ended a lot worse.
When not being in such a situation it's relatively easy to say what you would or wouldn't do compared to when you're actually facing danger.
From what I read 1 of them said he had a gun but usually when someone really is armed they rather just let the gun speak by flashing it.
Maybe Sonny had doubts about there really being a gun as none was flashed/shown to him and figured it was worth a try to go on offense and then run.
It's not much time to weigh pro's and con's of possible ways to handle the situation.

 

You got that right baby. It doesn't make any fuckin sense. You got to be the stupidest mutherfucka alive to throw your life away over damn cell phone.

 

Yes your chances of living increases greatly if you just give up the goods but that does not gurantee your life. I've read/heard/saw where an innocent victim was murdered after willingly complying with some punk bitch demands far to many times.

I'd rather take that chance... Of course my loved ones will be saddened by the lost but they would also carry a sense of pride knowing that I did not die in vain.

 

I agree that he had very little time to read the situation.

Flashing a gun puts you in higher danger of actually getting shot yourself. I leave it at that.

 

It's very rare that a nigga kills the person that he's robbing. It's more rare for a nigga the kill a person he's robbing when that person is cooperating. Usually niggas don't shot the person he's robbing unless that person doesn't cooperate. The vast majority of niggas who be robbing don't catch want no body. It's just plain ole dumb to provoke somebody to shoot you when you don't have to.

You know whats bad ass bring around.
Being around for friends and family that love you and want you around.
Volunteering your time to other young men on the come up that need the guidance to know it is far better to walk away than to lose your life or freedom over ridiculous confrontations that could easily be resolved. The worst thing about women like you is egg shit like this on because you feel weak and want a protector but never think about the consequences because you're not the one who has to suffer them. Maybe I expressed myself in a way that could be misunderstood(English isn't my native language).
What I was trying to say is that 1 of the robbers said he had a gun,but he didn't unpack or show a gun to underline his words. I can imagine if a robber held a gun and I could actually see there was indeed a gun would scare me more than if they just said they had a gun but not showing it.So it could be a bluff. Of course it was still a risky situation for Sonny,even if they did bluff about having a gun. 4 against 1 is not quite good odds to make it out alive and healthy.

I was just asking cause I saw a certain someone use it about 20 times so far in this thread. Was wondering if maybe people here thought that was cool or something.

 

I rarely ever use it myself, and when I do it's usually in a certain context, but I don't have the same aversion to it that older generations of blacks do.

 

I have no possession that it worth risking my life, whether that item is insured against theft or not. I would never play a bluffing game with anyone who says that they possess a weapon, nor view myself as appearing "weak" or "lacking dignity" for my choice. If I was even unfortunate enough to be in that situation, my ONLY thought would be survival, for the sake of myself and my family, period. I'm a "big" guy, but machismo can get you killed, and there's nothing smart about that IMO.

I don't feel "cursed" as a Black man but "cursed" to live in a time, where in far too many instances life is often devalued.

Why is there black on black crime, perhaps because it's easier? You literally have predators walking in neighborhoods so it's more convenient for them. Black crime is less reported for many reasons, fear of retaliation, apathy with the legal system or a sense that such crimes are less investigated by authorities. So, from a criminal's standpoint, these dynamics work well in their favor.

I don't know why you would be surprised by this guy's take. He is the same guy who said in another post that when he has cheated it was as an ego boost. It's not that far of a stretch to go then to be willing to die for so called "dignity". It's all about self with him and so has no regard for others, especially family. Just saying.
