White women more likely to be childless

Childless women are more likely to be white than any other racial group, new Census data show.

Findings from the 2010 Current Population Survey also show that black women were more likely to be childless than Hispanic women; percentages for Asian women more closely resemble those for blacks and Hispanics than whites.

The Census Bureau uses age 44 as the age for completion of childbearing. The data show that 20.6% of white women were childless, compared with 17.2% of black women, 15.9% of Asian women and 12.4% of Hispanic women.

Oh good - I have at least 8 more years up before I have to make up my mind lol. Maybe I can find someone I want to share my genetics with bad enough by then.

What are your theories on why this is, Benz? I know a lot of black women are going for higher education (huge percentages), but they're still managing to procreate at the same time?

I'm guessing people in urban areas are more likely to have babies at a young age when they're not even ready. Which would explain why minorities are more likely to not be childless.

 

Oh hell, I don't know - I'm not going to wiki it just to sound smart. Just seems like in university there are a lot of really focused black women who go on to get Master's, PhD's...

I could have quoted something from the movie Idiocracy, but it might have seemed racist even though it's not. Well, hell, here it is. I'm referring to higher education in combination with intelligence here... not implying that people without educations aren't intelligent, but they have different motivations in life. If you start out poor, you might not be encouraged to go to college and so would possibly just end up doing what other people around you are doing (having unprotected sex and popping out kids).

Obviously there are plenty of poor white people that are doing the same thing.

Again qualitfy " a lot" because I actually havn't started an significant number of threads since I've been here. I always ask people what does " a lot" mean. In reality black women aren't obtaining graduate degrees by the same ratio when compared to other races....
