Thank you, Ra! You're sweet. Next time I'll figure out how to post them in larger format. It's been a while since I used photobucket.
Thank you so much for the rep, Tamstrong - I really appreciate it. Hopefully it helps to explain my looney written behavior Persephone is far cooler in her transition between artistry and written word. Props to all of you for keeping this thread going long enough for me to get here! I'll post some later after I get my photobucket back up and going.
I don't even want to ruin this thread by talking about what happen in that other thread. Just know that I don't have no problem with you. Anyway, how long have you been an artist?
Fair enough. Since I was old enough to hold a pencil - since about 2 years old. I grew up drawing as real as I could to gain approval from my family - it was the only way I could get noticed. After I got divorced at 26, I ventured into abstraction, but realism is my first love. Planning a show in Louisville as soon as I get all my shit together. Thank you kindly, FG!! I work hard at it, and miss it, since I haven't been able to do a lot of it lately. But times are achangin'.
I use to want to be an artist when I was a kid. To bad I wasn't talented enough to do it professionally. Good luck with your art show. I really do hope it's sucessful.

Thank you, Trey. I wish I used to want to be an artist when I was a kid, but my parents didn't train me to think for myself, otherwise I could be a lot further on my path. My goal is to invite the great Louisvillian African American sculptor Ed Hamilton (of "York" and "Abraham Lincoln" among others) to attend my opening as an honored guest - he came up to me one time out of the blue and complimented me on my work (and it wasn't even at an art show, just that my work was hanging up and I was there). That meant so much to me. If he showed up to my opening, it would be one of the happiest days of my life! Granted, I have about 20 more paintings to do. And you know, Trey, every child is an artist until they are taught out of it by their parents (kind of like with racism). You can do it if you want to - just hunt down some classes and take 'em. You'll be surprised how good it makes you feel.
I just find something sexy about an artistic woman, they usually are deep thinkers and very passionate, love that in a woman. I interned at the art gallery of my university to pursue my career as an archivist. I definitely look forward to you sharing some of your work with us here. Impressed with what I have seen so far SA. :smt038
Archivist -now that's a career path I had never even thought of - what does it entail? Pardon my ignorance, but my focus in school was Art Education (even though I spent all of my time in the painting room lol). Yeah I've cornered the market on thinking too much and being too passionate, that's for sure. It's a good thing, but it can also eat you alive if you don't learn how to control it. Thank you for your kind words, GQ - I'll put up some more work eventually!
Deals with collecting, sorting, organizing and storing, relevant historical information for government agencies, museums, private companies, universities, etc. Its akin to being a forensic scientist of history, going through historical data with a fine toothed comb to process it and make it contextual. Since I'm a passionate lover of history its a natural fit for me. A woman with attributes such as yours when it comes to how you look at the wider world around us is an admirable quality. I find that more stimulating in a woman than any physical features, it tells me something about her soul.
wow, thanks. It means a lot coming from someone with such gorgeous work of her own. I've been trying for realism since I was a kid, and I still feel far away from it in most forms. lol My 3d work is the closest, and it's still not there yet in my opinion, but I'm trying. And I certainly don't mind others posting. lol It seems like since I'm mostly the one posting in this thread people tend to think it's mine, but this thread is just supposed to be about sharing everyone's art. ...it just doesn't get much traffic so every so often I'll try to revive it. lol I may not be able to help you in the past with your class yet (give me time, I'll crack time travel eventually! haha) but I could certainly point you towards some excellent sources to help you if you ever want to try digital stuff again. I'm pretty damn good with a lot of Adobe programs so I could offer tips depending on what you wanted to try. What type of things did your digital media class cover? I barely touch paint to canvas anymore, everything I do is either originating from a computer or being stripped down and reworked in a computer. lol I haven't had a chance to browse the newer replies to this thread yet, but if you haven't posted more pics you should do so asap! I'd love to see more of your work.
Oh, and I don't have any images to share yet, but I think I may be posting my dvd package on here soon. I'd say in about 2 weeks, though the deadline may be a few weeks later. In order to graduate, one of my tasks is to create at least 15 leave behinds consisting of my flatbook (mini-portfolio/dvd insert), business card, dvd with professional label, and all of it needs to be contained in the same housing. Most people go with a standard plastic dvd case, and the really poor ones probably just resuse ones from old dvds. I'm planning on binding my own hardcover book that has a sleeve for both my dvd (demo reel) and business card inside the front cover, and possibly incorporating a loose resume in the back. The cover itself may not end up being a true hardcover in the end, but even if it's paperback the goal is to make it look like an actual book. I know it'll go great for at least one copy...the "mass production" is gonna kill me, though. lol I'm also planning on using lightscribed dvds instead of the printed stickers 99 percent of my graduating class will be using. It's gonna be so sweet when I'm done. I don't remember if I ever shared this, but here's a 3d model I did last year for Industrial class
Sorry I haven't been posting anything in a while, unfortunately I've been too busy with stuff going on. In any case. here is a recent drawing i just did. It's thor, but not marvel's thor. I tried to go more on the traditional look. No reference, just construction lines and trying to place where I want the light to hit (which is the hardest part for me.)
