How can you POSSIBLY think that Osama's death makes you SAFER?? He was a figure head, a dying one at that... Someone's there to take his place, and there will be vengeance.
Is it Ok? No. Is it such a big deal? No. Is it hypocrisy? No. Well, I guess we danced just like they're dancing. The songs were completely different, however. One song was over the intended deaths of THOUSANDS of innocents. The other song was over the death of an international terrorist. It's like consoling the rape victim as well as the rapist. I travel a lot too.... the only time I really worried about my safety is more related to the Bernoulli effect than terrorism. Nothing's changed there.
That person who takes his place was already there! He or she was coming at the usa any way. I just don't have to worry about him or her and bin laden. In a fight, are you safer fighting one person or two?
Should we have just let him be? He'd keep doing the same shit, then die, then someone would just take his place and keep doing the same shit.
Are you safe because you kill the gang leader when the rest of the gang are fuckin' pissed off and can't wait to get vengeance on your ass?
i understand that the ones celebrating were/are a handful, but that handful is doing more harm than good. what will be portrayed out in the world is that handful and it will only incite more hatred and anger in those who support osama. i would have preferred to see osama brought in and face the court than have him dead. his death will only make him a martyr for his cause and elevate him to a greater worship level that he already was. but if we look at it honestly, he was never going to be brought in unharmed. i will leave my celebrations to the end of this ridiculous war which is taking the lives of our soldiers, the innocent civilians and the ending of the hurt and pain of those families of the soldiers and the innocent bystanders caught in this war, the closure of guantanamo bay and world peace. oh and i know that the attack was on us soil and comparing the australians that were harmed or killed in the attack vs the americans that were harmed or killed is like taking a piss in the ocean, but we cannot also ignore the fact that the bali bombings were aimed at australians because of our support of the us attack in afghanistan.
Oh I'm not saying he shouldn't have been killed.... I'm just disputing the idea that it somehow signifies the "end"...
oh great let me allow the gang leader to live so that he and the rest of the gang that was trying to kill me do it. Because of course, it was safer with the gang leader and his crew.
What hypocrisy?? He killed 3000+ innocent men and women. We killed in vengeance the EVIL murderer who orchestrated it! Talk about a screwball comparison. So I assume you chastised the Iraqi's and Kurds who celebrated the death of the EVIL Saddam Hussein (who gassed thousands of Kurds). Or the Jews who celebrated the death of EVIL Hitler. Sheesh. As for you never worrying about your safety UNTIL today(??? ), just remember there were 3000 innocent Americans who felt that way on September 11th, 2001.
Yes, it does. You have less people coming after you. The people who you think will try to take vengence were trying to do damage any way.
This isn't political at all. I'm just pointing to having less enemies to worry about. A good share of this thread has been misleading but I just didn't care enough to go on about Bin Laden's death. It really isn't a rejoice of a dead man but the fact that justice was served.
There isn't one American or pundit anywhere, including all the way to the top, Obama himself, who said this was the end of terrorism. We aren't stupid. Security was beefed all day, everywhere. But trust that with the dictatorial Islamic uprisings for democracy of late, the only place Osama is TRULY worshiped is in Pakistan and remote parts of Afghanistan. His tyrannical quest towards world dominance that comports to his radical form of Islam is OVER. Done.
