One thing I remember my stepfather, uncle and other relatives who served in combat always telling me was that you take no glee in killing your opponent, you just do it because you are a soldier. Period.

I understand your POV about it. But don't you think this would give Obama a political boost for 2012? That's a reason why people should celebrate since it boosts his prospects for winning re-election and beating the Republicans next year.

Didn't expect anything more out of you.

Anyway I look at it like this.

Say you had a family member or friend killed by a serial killer. They finally catch the guy and execute him.
Are you gonna go outside and start jumping around like an idiot?

I doubt anyone who actually lost a loved one at 9/11 was out in the street getting drunk and screaming "U.S.A". The only people doing that were idiots who didn't have anything else better to do.

It may well give him a boost, but you should win elections on the strength of your ideas, strategy and supporters. Not on the death of one villain. Again, let me restate, as I have friends that live in NYC who were just a mile or two away and one who called in sick to work that day and could have potentially been there, that this in NO WAY excuses anything bin Laden has done. But if we (as the right wing is so fond of saying) are an exceptional nation, then we should behave as such, not wallow in the gutter with the least noble, least dignified sentiments.

He was the most wanted man by the FBI. He was pure evil. Glad he is dead.:smt023

    Flattered homie;)

Your analogy doesnt really work either. The way I look at is, one of the most evil humans to ever walk the Earth just got killed. This is a great thing. If folks want to celebrate, let them celebrate. I personally didnt celebrate or chant USA in the streets but I have no problem with the ones that did. Seemed like his death brought a lot of people together...nothing wrong with that. If you want to be a big soft pussy about it then more power to ya, we all have different ways of dealing with things.

My point is junior, when they celebrated after Americans died...we thought "oh the savages" now we are the savages.

No, you're not the only one. I can understand feeling a sense of justice & closure (especially for the families of those who lost their lives), but I don't think it's something to be celebrated. I agree that in doing so people are engaging in the same behavior we condemn our enemies for & it's disgusting. They rejoice when they kill our people...9/11 to them was cause for celebration; they have so much hatred for us as a nation, that murdering all of those people was an accomplishment & a great source of pride for them. The idea of us being like them in that respect hurts my heart. NOTHING positive comes from hate & vengeance. Justice is a tricky thing sometimes...when we seek justice for others, we should uphold those same standards of justice for ourselves. How can we judge others without being able to withstand the same judgement against ourselves? When we behave in such an ugly manner, we are not showing honor to our country or to those who have died for it (our soldiers & those who died in the attacks). By not showing them the appropriate respect is like saying that they died in vain, & that is something people should be ashamed of.

Ok. Point is understood. Unfortunately, humans are a very complicated species, and our country was founded on a history of war, fighting, power and combat. You have to remember in the 1770's, when we had to fight and win against the British. The Americans celebrated when they beat them and achieved independence on July 4th, 1776. What are we supposed to do when July 4th comes around this year? We're supposed to celebrate and create fireworks. :p

Are you really this obtuse or are you just fucking with me?

You are smart enough to realize this, but you just made my point for me. I thank you.

Dude where you raised by a man? I'm curious? You think this is being a pussy?

    No...for real. Where you?

Absolutely idiotic logic. They were celebrating the deaths of innocent people. Osama is pure evil and was the most wanted man in the world. Two completely different things...junior.

To them...Americans that died were not innocent. They celebrated the death of the "evil" people, as we now call Osama evile. Him as a man is inconsequentle, but our actions as a nation are nothing short of dishonorable.

Yeah, I have a logical way of dealing with things.

The death of Osama means nothing, the war isn't over and Al Qaeda will continue on just as they would if he was still alive.
The damage is already done and Osama being alive wasn't effecting my daily life. So why would I celebrate anything?

If not celebrating the death of another human being makes me a "big soft pussy" then so be it.

The most important thing out of the whole thing is that Obama's credibility increases and it's a political boost for the Democrats. If the Republicans take control in 2012, our country will face an economic collapse. So if they were celebrating for that reason, then they were justified to do so, in my opinion. In a way, it's saying Obama's administration is better with foreign policy and military than Bush's was. To not honor that achievement is a disservice to Obama and his colleagues. I'm not forcing my opinion on anyone, just stating what I think.

    1. You don't have to keep typing "that's my opinion" we know its your opinion, you wrote it....you giving your opinion and saying its your opinion is damn silly.

    2. You don't really think people are celebrating in the streets cuz this increases Obama's credibility do you?

    .....no for real...do you?
