I think I'm the only one that finds the celebrate of the death of man sickening. We are acting like the very same people we condem. Where is the honor in a country I have given my life too. Sick yall....WE as a country have to...and can do better.

it sickens me...truly, and I'm not just being mello dramatic. Its like a rock concert. Its dishonorable, and shameful. This is what we have come to as a nation?

as a warrior, I simply see no honor in it. I was a young Marine watching when the body of an American warrior was drunk through the street of Mogadishu...and our Nation Cried. "How could do tthat". A Soldier when people where rejoicing and captured and killed American Warriors, and I though. There is no pride in this. As a nation we cried.

Now look at us.

There is a different between JUSTICE and VENGEANCE.

This is petty, we should pause and weep for the sacrifice of men and women who died seeking JUSTICE.

 

I agree 100% Ymra. I was just thinking that to myself late last night and this morning as the fratboy crowd started showing up and chanting "USA!", like some stupid football chant. While I find bin Laden's Islamic fundamentalism disgusting, I also find this same jingoism depressing. One of the enemy has been vanquished, gather information, dispose of the body and get back to work. I hate when people play into the stereotype of the "Ugly American". Damn.

 

We SAY we have learned from the mistakes of history. We celebrate like the German's watching the Jews burn. The nation that would have hundreds of people show up to watch a slave hang...then celebrate. Cut pieces of the slave's body and cell it for souvenir. This is where we have come from...........we came full circle. I simply don't see any honor in this at all.

When THEY did it...it was a shame, and reprehensible. When WE do it.........its justified?

Although it's a good day for America and some other countries, it's not a good day for everyone else, and these countries do not have support for Al-Qaida or Bin Laden.

 

Though I agree with your sentiments that we should not be going out on the streets to celebrate the killing of an individual. The difference is when they (middle eastern, large # but not all) did go out in mass and cheered and danced on the streets just right after 9/11, they were celebrating the killing of 3000 innocent Americans lives, but last night when my fellow Americans went out on the streets and danced, they were celebrating the death of one evil man who took away those three thousand innocent lives.

The were celebrating the fall of a giant....a symbol, the loss of life...death.

We are doing nothing short of the same.

That's because the world isn't a utopia filled with kittens and puppies, Tarshi. To a degree, I think they were justified in celebrating. But that's my opinion. I think it's an American issue and hurt Americans a lot harder (in 2001) than it did for Australians and people in other countries that had nothing to do with 9/11.

 

Give me a fuckin break! This scumbag was responsible for killing thousands. FUCK HIM and I am glad he is dead too. Doesnt bother me that people all over celebrated, that motherfucker had it coming. Oh and I slept like a baby last night too

 

Same here, I jumped in my bed at 9:30 PM last night. We have people on this forum that live in New York. Imagine if there were users on this forum that could be here posting with us today if 9/11 never happened.

 

I am satisfied that he is dead. Not happy. Not celebrating. Just satisfied. Now, I want to know what our government is doing that will reduce, not add, to global hostility against the citizens of this country. I dare say that acting like a pitchfork-waving mob is not the way to start.
