Jerry Seinfeld: Royal Wedding is "an absurd circus act."

On British TV to promote his June stand-up concert in England, Jerry Seinfeld expressed his opinion of the upcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.



"Well it's a circus act, it's an absurd act," Seinfeld said. "You know, it's a dress-up. It's a classic English thing of let's play dress-up. Let's pretend that these are special people. OK, we'll all pretend that -- that's what theater is."

And, in case you weren't quite clear on his point, he added, "And that's what the royal family is -- it's a huge game of pretend. These aren't special people -- it's fake outfits, fake phony hats and gowns."

OK, so what? Like anyone cares a bit about Jerry Seinfeld and his absurd attempts at comedy?

I, for one, will be up in time to watch the ceremony on Friday morning. And then I will continue to watch it streaming from YouTube on my phone while I'm at work. So sue me. I grew up with Princes William and Harry, and I think it's a bright spot in a world of darkness right now. It doesn't hurt anyone that they're getting married, so whatever.

Yeah, aside from working full time, going to school, hanging out with my friends, going to the theater, and dating, I'm bereft of activity and LONG for something to do.

I heard about this a little while ago. I wasn't surprised. But he's not special either, so his opinion means less to me than than the crazy lady in my town who think she can make it rain by stripping naked and dancing down a busy road.

So are the royal family. And they've been around a lot longer and been more important in the past than Jerry Seinfeld has ever been. After all, they did use to lead the commonwealth, regardless of their 'figure head' status in the present day.

 

Jerry Seinfeld is a comedic genius.

 

Negro please. Even if you want to compliment the rulers of old fine but the current royal wedding is about two incredibly spoiled rich kids whose entire existance is the result of exploiting others and occupying there homeland. There's nothing regal about them. Stop drinking the kool aid they don't do shit except take.

 

As much disdain I have for Jerry Seinfeld and that his show is by and large the most overrated program of all time, I'm actually in agreement with him for once. The whole monarch, "let us all celebrate the festivities" IS a circus act. They're not influential people anymore, nor do they represent much of anything significant anymore other than being a relic of the past.

Honestly, there are more pressing matters than watching some wedding. I'll only consider watching a wedding of that magnitude if one of the royal members marries interracial. Aside from that, I'll skip the whole fiasco and let the Anglophiles drool over nothing.

 

Even if you don't like him you have to admit that. I never got Friends or Wings or most of the NBC sitcoms for that matter but if they made it as long as they did there has to be some merit to them

 

For sure. He is very funny and talented.

His standup comedy routines are legendary.
