Awesome. Best zombie movie in years. They're also doing Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Great book, can't wait to see the movie.

my little nook in the world really is a safe one. i'm on a slight hill, so i don't need to worry about flooding. i live close to the bay, but there's no real fear of a tsunami. there's no hurricane's or tornado's to speak of. i have a torch and candles if the power goes out for any reason, but besides that, i'm safe.

I have not gotten around to building my fallout shelter / bunker yet. It is in the plans for the future though as I believe we may see a nuclear device used on American soil sooner rather than later. This will most likely occur in my lifetime. I haven't calculated the cost of such a bunker, but I'm figuring steel walls with lead reinforcement may be quite expensive.

Edit: This bunker will be zombie proof as well! :smt070

Wow, I just checked back at this thread and I have been laughing for five minutes just reading the latest exchange of comments about zombies. I guess it's fault for first mentioning them. I'm such a zombie fan.

But, Tashi, you may have more to fear than "boob" eating zombies, lol. I'm not sure where you live but you mentioned a bay. Have you heard of the "Ring of Fire"? It's a more of less horseshoe shaped area that encompasses many several continents and is comprised of a number of fault lines. These areas are at a high risk for earthquakes.

Also, living on a mountain, you have to worry about alien landings. They always choose isolated mountain areas. So, if you see an old man running in front of your window, with a green slime on his hand, beware of The Blob!!

Oh no, atomic bombs now. Okay Tarshi, now you have to worry about giant ants, spiders and grasshoppers.

    lol...!!!

i'm in australia honey so the only ring of fire i fear is the one after i've been at an indian restaurant...!!!!

alien landings normally only happen in area's that are open, so i'm safe there as well...!!!!

australia's sounding better by the minute isn't it ;)

There is very little you can prepare for Lippy unless it has its psychological benefits of "at least I prepared." In a situation that you have to start preparing for a disaster, or disaster planning, I would first visit insurance companies in my area and work through what they cover and the premiums.

In this sense, you have ready access to database they have built on realistic risks that are prevalent within your area without the act of God options. How they value the risk determines what your likely future challenges could be with the exception of an act of God.

The insurance office should be your starting point, and from then on, you can build your list, I mean that list that meets you psychological needs. Your local YMCA, library, and any other civic center is a place to visit on safety courses and disaster planning on offer.
