I ran the Warrior Dash, a 5k obstacle course, last Saturday and wanted to share some pics. The first one is me at the top of the 25' rope wall, the second is our group at the end of the race and the others are the bruises I sustained while doing it! This was a huge accomplishment for me considering I recently weighed almost 300 pounds and had back surgery a couple years ago. Being fit is so much more fun than being a couch potato
You're gonna love it! Watch out for those barricades you have to climb over though. I got bruises, but you may ruin your chances to have children if you straddle them the way I did! I've lost a bit over 100 pounds in the last couple of years. Most of it at one time, but the last 30 pounds have been in the past few months.
Kid...haha...haven't been called that in a long time Thank you! Thank you! Check it out! www.warriordash.com
So cool! I would love to do that! Thank you! Haven't heard of that one. Looks like it's south Texas; I'm in North Texas (DFW). I'll probably do Jailbreak in September. It's at the same adventure park in Roanoke (Fort Worth) where the Warrior Dash was.
Wow pamaro!! I'm so inspired by you... I wish there were something like this in Louisville KY where I live - do you know of a hookup? I could use a group motivating effort to make me show up and do stuff without it being a reality tv show lol... Sometimes I think I'm a loner, but something like this, I think I could really get on board with, especially if it involves a lot of diverse activities and a mixed group (men/women from all walks of life). I'd love to be a success story like you. I don't have quite that much to lose (maybe like 50 lbs in my opinion), but you look so amazing, and it's obvious you are happy - I'd be thrilled to be involved in a group with one goal. Any suggestions for me? I don't really know where to start right now.
You never know what you can handle til you try! I would have never thought in a million years I could do something like this! Thanks so much Some people can get motivated and stay on course with online support groups. I dieted and trained primarily by myself and leaned on my close friends (none of which were dieting and exercising). I found that when I actually paid the money and signed up for the event, I was very motivated to stay on track! No way was I gonna be the fat old lady that couldn't finish with all of my much younger and more fit friends LOL There are several "extreme 5 and 10k" events all over the country. Check out Warrior Dash, Jailbreak and Tough Mudder. There's also the Boondock that Paniro was talking about in an earlier post. Sign up for one and you'll be surprised how motivated you become! Best of luck to you and let me know if/how I can help!
Thank you for the advice, Pamaro... As soon as I get the rest of my life sorted out (man it's a mess, looking for a job!!) I will start looking into a fitness group. Maybe I'll post an ongoing weekly workout thread like babybro does or something - THAT would put some fire under my ass. Need I say it again, but you are awesome for having the courage to do what you did - and succeed to boot! rayer:
