I'm playing with the thought of a vacation just for me. I have spent many years on vacation with others and serving my family coming to visit.

I have a deep urge to go somewhere, just me, to do some hiking and spa stuff, read books etc for a long weekend.

You girls have any ideas for that type of vacation here in the US, where I can do both hiking and spa-ing??? Not too crowded as I'm sorta looking for some solitude sorta thing???

lippy loves to spa...i'm not sure how far you want to travel or if there is a state you haven't been to that you would enjoy exploring...

canyon ranch in tuscon is fabulous...you could check it out on your next business trip there...

red mountain in st. george, utah...i love the landscapes in utah with all of the red earth and hills

right in your backyard is ojai - the oaks, the golden door is in escondido, cal a vie is in vista

these are all resort spas that have accomodations, spa, yoga, hiking + various classes

i would pick up a couple of spa magazines to see what the current top spas are and read some reviews...

my son and i just went to the squaw peak resort in phoenix last week and they had a beautiful spa...hiking...golf...tennis...lazy river...

if i am going for a just a couple of days then i usually take into consideration how long will it take me to get there...what's the weather like...classes offered...comfort...

santa fe would be great this time of year...

I kind of got on the same kick a few years ago after reading an article. They spoke of a spa in I think it was Sedona, AZ. I agree with lippie get a spa magazine and see what's hot now. Would be a great way to rest and re-energize.

Has anyone else visited The Boulders spa in Carefree, AZ. I spent a week there and enjoyed it tremendously. They have nice accommodations, casitas as they were called, golf, spa, nice restaurants and great views? The night views are nice as well, watching the lights playing off the giant boulders in the area.

I can't recommend places specifically in the US but definitely recommend a lone person vacation!! They are great!!

I wouldn't travel by myself ALL the time but do it semi often and love it.

Really enjoyed this place when I went! I think it's closed at the moment or something.

Daylesford is nice but it's filled with wankers :( Not saying I'm not one of them.. but umm yeah

  17. I think you should go to a health and/or fitness retreat (not that you need it!). I always thought this would be a fun and fulfilling thing to do and there are many in your area.

I tend to be a solo traveler most of the time, it's quite enjoyable.

I have some great ideas for Canada's Rocky mountains but know nothing about US locations. These are all in the mountains so the hiking and views are spectacular! Have a great time FG, you deserve it!!!!!!! :smt054:smt054 xox
